A phone can be connected to a network.

There is a guide on how to connect a phone to a modem.Voice over internet protocol is referred to as VoIP.These phones carry calls over the internet, instead of using a phone. These phones can be used to connect to a modem or a router.

Step 1: The modem and router should be turned off.

The modem and any other devices connected to them should be unplugged before installing a VoIP phone.

Step 2: The base station needs to be connected to the AC.

The power strip is the cord you use to plug into an electrical outlet. The port on the base station should match the size and shape of the AC input.

Step 3: The base station needs to be connected to the handset.

If the phone has a cord, connect it to a phone jack on the base station.Place the phone in the base station and let it charge.Put the batteries in the phone.

Step 4: The base station has an ethernet cable.

Attach the cable from your phone to the port on the base station. The pass-through option is available on some VoIP phones. If you want to connect a computer to your phone, you only need to use one port on your router. If you want to use this option, connect your computer's cable to the port on the base station that says "PC" or something similar.Attach the cable from your phone to the port that says "switch", "Internet" or something similar.

Step 5: The cable has to be connected to the modem.

There are 4 numbered Ethernet ports on the back of most routers and modems. The back of the router has a number of ports. There is a message that says "Initializing network" on the screen.

Step 6: You can power up the modem and router.

Plug in the modem first and wait 30 seconds for it to resync with the network if you have a separate modem.Wait 30 seconds after plugging in the routers.

Step 7: Plug the phone into the base station and power it on.

Place the phone in the base station.Allow the battery to charge for a while.Wait 30 seconds to power the phone.

Step 8: The dial tone is important.

Pick up the phone and look for a dial tone when the screen turns to the home screen."How to Set Up VoIP in your Home" will show you how to turn your phone into an internet phone.

Step 9: Check the capabilities of your router.

The TP-Link AC 1900 has built in DECT capabilities. This will allow you to connect the phone to the internet. The user's manual can be used to check your routers capabilities. You should check the box to see if the phone supports DECT or CAT-iq.

Step 10: Charge the batteries in the phone.

Put a fresh set of batteries in the phone. If the base station is used to charge the phone, connect it to the AC and place it there.Let the phone sit and wait for the batteries to charge.

Step 11: There is power to the phone.

When you power on the phone, you will likely see a message asking you to register the device with the base station. You will register it with the internet service provider.

Step 12: The "DECT" button can be held on the routers.

The lights on the routers will flash after you hold the "DECT" button for a few seconds. The phone is connected to the internet. The home screen will be displayed when the phone is finished. The phone will be registered as "Handset 1".
