If burgers and hotdogs aren't your thing, may I suggest this lazy low country boil?
I call it lazy because I started making it with already peeled and de-veined shrimp.The entire recipe is from my mom.
There are several benefits to making it this way.It reduces the smell a lot.It is stinkier to cook shrimp in the shell.It's a big deal to have to take the trash out after a meal.I bet you remember what it smelled like the next day if you forgot to do this.
They won't have to clean their hands to peel the shrimp.They will thank you for that.It is fun to eat when you don't have to work as hard.
It will save you a lot of time if you buy the shrimp already peeled and deveined.They are more expensive.But worth.It is.In my opinion.
When buying shrimp, I like to check the following boxes.I compromise on at least one of the following.
It will be easier to find if you live close to the coast.I compromised and got frozen, wild caught, peeled and deveined ones.It was delicious!
If you want to make it the traditional way with shell-on shrimp, knock yourself out.This recipe can still be used completely.The shrimp might need to cook a bit longer.Don't forget to take out the trash.
The corn and potatoes are a great side dish, and they cook in the pot with everything else, which gives them great flavor.
