A projector screen needs to be cleaned.

To keep the image of your projector clear, you will have to clean the screen.Simple household items can be used as cleanser no matter what screen you have.By wiping the screen down, you can have a fresh display to project on.

Step 1: To loosen the dust, spray the screen with compressed air.

A can of compressed air can be used to clean electronics.Short bursts of air can be used if the nozzle is kept about 1 inch from the screen. To loosen the dust, blow the entire screen. At big box stores, compressed air can be purchased.

Step 2: Wrap a piece of masking tape around your hand

Make a loop of tape around your fingers.Put your hands in the air so that they don't come into contact with the screen. When you clean the screen, use wider tape to cover more area.

Step 3: The screen has dust marks 4 inch (19mm) in size.

Press the screen on top of the mark with the tape wrapped around your hand.Lift your hand away from the screen and pat it.If you switch between the front and back of your hand, you won't have to use the screen again. If you get fingerprints or scratches on the screen, wear latex gloves. If the mark is larger or not coming up with the tape, you may have to use a stronger cleaning method.

Step 4: The solution should be warm distilled water and dish soap.

If you want the ingredients to be completely mixed, place them in a large mixing bowl. This can help remove stubborn stains from your projector screen.Green Works is a good store-bought substitute for all-purpose cleaners.

Step 5: Wet the rag with the solution.

To wring out a clean cloth, dip it in the water and wring it out completely.A cotton cloth is lint-free and soft.Don't use rough or abrasive sponges since they can damage delicate screens.

Step 6: Light pressure is applied to the screen side to side.

From the top to the bottom of the screen. In one direction, wipe across the screen. If you want to have full coverage of the screen, use strokes that are about 5 inches (13 cm) in length and slightly overlap the area you just wiped.A circular motion can scratch and damage your screen.

Step 7: To remove excess water from the screen, use a dry cloth.

Dry the area with a new cloth.Continue using side to side strokes to remove the water from the screen.Since it may leave permanent stains, don't let the solution air dry on your screen.

Step 8: The end of a Q-tip can be dipped in alcohol.

The end of the Q-tip needs to be completely saturated with alcohol. The solution you used before should only be used for spot treatments because the alcohol will be more powerful. You can buy rubbing alcohol at convenience stores.

Step 9: The wet end of the Q-tip is needed to wipe the mark.

The area needs to be wiped with a mark.Make sure to overlap areas you have already wiped with short side to side strokes. The mark on the screen starts to lift as the Q-tip rotates. You should be gentle with the Q-tip.You should not press into the screen too hard.

Step 10: The other side of the Q-tip is the best place to dry it.

If alcohol is allowed to soak into the screen, it could leave a permanent stain. The alcohol can be removed by spraying the dry end of the Q-tip on the mark.To clean the area, use a microfiber cloth.

Step 11: It's finished.
