Business travel needs a professional look. The amount of wrinkling will be minimized if you fold your shirts properly. One of the best ways to fold your sleeves is by folding them in half widthwise. One involves folding each sleeve vertically, one on top of the other. It is simply a matter of what is easiest for you to use.Adding a few steps to packing will help reduce wrinkling even more.
Step 1: Take out your shirt.
If your shirt has buttons, make sure to button them all up.Put your shirt on its front, with its back facing up, on a sturdy surface like a table.Straighten the sleeves so they are straight out from either side.
Step 2: Take each sleeve and put it over the back.
To create a 45 degree downward angle along your crease, fold the sleeve over from its shoulder. The sleeve should be lined up with the shirt's side so they run parallel. You can smooth the first sleeve out with your hand from shoulder to cuff.
Step 3: You should fold each sleeve in half.
A couple of inches of each sleeve will be hanging off the side of your shirt after its first fold.Take the outer half and fold it over the inner half. You can smooth out the sleeves from top to bottom with your hands.
Step 4: It's a good idea to fold your shirt in half.
To pinch each shoulder and sleeve, use both hands.Lift the top of your shirt and then draw it back, with the chest facing up.A light crease can be formed by folding your shirt in half below the chest.
Step 5: Take your shirt off.
Button up any buttons on your shirt and then lay it out face down on a sturdy surface. The sleeves should be straight out from the shirt's sides.
Step 6: Place one sleeve over the other.
Let's say you start with the right sleeve. If you want it to be on top of the left sleeve, you have to fold it across the back of your shirt.Just before the right collar, stop.
Step 7: Straighten the front of the shirt.
The front of your shirt may have folded over the back if you folded the first sleeve over. While maintaining the fold, straighten this portion. From top to bottom, keep your crease along the shirt's side straight.
Step 8: The top sleeve should be folded over itself.
Take the cuff of your right sleeve and then draw it back over itself, to the right. The new crease should be stopped once it reaches the left collar. The sleeve should be smooth from left to right.
Step 9: The sleeve should be folded over again.
The crease at the right collar should now be extended by a few inches. The cuff should be drawn back to the left until the third crease lines up with the first. From right to left, smooth the cuff.
Step 10: You should repeat with the left sleeve.
Put your left sleeve across the back of your shirt and put your right sleeve over it.Straighten the left side of your shirt so the crease runs straight from top to bottom. You should fold the left sleeve over again and then put it on top of the right one.
Step 11: Place the shirt in half.
Take the bottom of your shirt and put it over your sleeves.Use your hands to smooth it out.If you want to smooth out the front, flip the shirt over.
Step 12: You should bag your shirts in plastic.
Wrinkles in your shirt and other clothes are caused by the rubbing of your luggage. The plastic pouch that your shirt came in should be saved. You can put the shirt into a bag after folding it.Since two shirts rubbing up on each other will defeat the whole point, limit yourself to one shirt per bag. When folding, use plastic to reduce friction. Before you start, place a dry-cleaner bag over the back of your shirt. After folding your sleeves, lay a bag or sheet over them so you can fold the shirt in half.Pack your belongings in plastic bags to protect them from spills and dirt, and for extra insurance against other items in your luggage.
Step 13: THe shirts should be folded for a short time.
The longer a shirt is folded, the more time it takes to set in.If you have to rush it, hold off on your clothes for as long as you can. When you get to your hotel, unpack your clothes and hang your shirts on the wall. Before you clean and iron your shirts, do a practice run.Pack them the same way you would pack them if you were packing for real. You should gather everything else you bring with you and figure out the best way to arrange them in your luggage so you know what to bring.
Step 14: You don't need to overstuff your luggage.
You can prevent items from flopping around inside your luggage by filling it all the way.Roll up extra t-shirts, socks, or other soft items to fill empty space if necessary.Don't cram too much in, since overstuffing will cause your packed items to fall into each other. This is a reason to do a test-run with packing before ironing your shirt.
