It can be hard to have a split nail.If your nail is split, you have to worry about catching it on something that could rip it even more.That is why you need to fix your split nail.Repairing the split helps prevent the nail from tearing any further, and also allows you to cover up the splits with nail polish.
Step 1: Remove any polish from your nails.
A cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover can be used to remove nailpolish.To remove the polish on the side edges of your nail, Rub your nails from side to side.Don't let cotton particles get caught in the split of your nail.If you're worried about catching your nail on the cotton ball, remove the nail polish that's moving in the direction of the split.
Step 2: Remove the teabag from the top.
Cut off the top portion of the tea bag with scissors.Put the tea leaves in the garbage and keep the teabag paper intact because you will use it to repair your nail.
Step 3: Attach the teabag to your nail.
To fit the tea bag on your nail, just past the split toward the free edge, you must cut it in a rectangular shape.If the free edge of your nail has a split, you can use a tea bag to cover it.Cut the tea bag longer if the split is deeper.The sides of the cut teabag should reach to the side of your nail.You can remove the teabag from the free edge of your nail after applying it.
Step 4: There is a clear base coat.
As a base coat, paint a thin layer of clear nail polish.It's important to cover the split section of your nail.The teabag will be held in place by this clear polish.
Step 5: Place the teabag on your nail.
When the base coat is still wet, place the tea bag on your nail to cover the split section.To make sure there are no air bubbles in the tea bag, smooth it out with a finger or a stick.Allow the nail polish to dry for a while.
Step 6: The polish needs to dry.
Wait for the base coat to dry, then cut the rest of the teabag from your nail.It is a good idea to leave a small amount of teabag hanging off your nail because you can file it away later.
Step 7: Another layer of clear nail polish is needed.
If the tea bag is secure on your nail, you can paint another layer of clear polish.You should extend the paint stroke past your nail onto the tea bag.Allow the nail polish to dry for a while.The teabag will show through at this point.
Step 8: Remove the teabag from your body.
Once the clear layer of nail polish has dried, use a nail file to file in one direction and remove the rest of teabag paper.The nail file can help remove paper particles from your nail.
Step 9: Another coat of polish is needed.
Paint on a thin coat of clear nail polish to seal everything down.The free edge of your nail is where the teabag was cut off.Allow the polish to dry for a while.You don't want to mess up your nail after you apply three coats of nailpolish.Swiping along the free edge of your nail helps to protect the teabag.
Step 10: If you want to paint your nails, paint them normally.
Paint your nails when they are completely dry.You already have three layers of polish on the nail and it will take longer to thoroughly dry.
