Add a Tangent Line to a Graph on TI-Nspire is a video.
My school bought class sets of TI Nspire CX calculators last year.Continue to be my nerd! These things are great.I can use the wireless capabilities to conduct polls in class. We can discuss the positive merits of wrong answers along with where they went wrong if I reveal a bar chart of all inputted answers.Game changing!
When students were using the TI 84 model, they had to make a huge leap to learn the new paradigm behind the calculator. The Nspires function much like a computer, where you create documents, and each document has pages which can contain either a calculator, graph, spreadsheet, statistical Graph, text editor, or a data collection app.The 84's and the keypad are miles apart.
I wanted to find something that would help them feel more familiar and less overwhelmed with the new calculator.A search on the TI Education website revealed a scavenger hunt for an earlier version of the Nspire.I changed the buttons and adapted it.I didn't think much about my first year as a teacher.
Students were given plenty of time and the chance to work together when I used this as an in class activity.I explained that the goal was not to get the right answer, but to learn how to use a calculator.
