The Medelln Cartel was a powerful and highly organized criminal organization that was founded and led by the man who would go on to become the most wanted man in the world.The drug gang operated from 1972 to 1993 in a number of countries, including the United States, as well as in Canada.It wasn't until 1976 that the organization started to sell cocaine.The Medelln Cartel brought in up to US$60 million a day in drug profits and smuggled tons of cocaine into countries around the world.[2][3]

Although notorious for dominating the illegal cocaine trade, the organization was also noted for its use of violence for political aims and its asymmetric war against the Colombian government, primarily in the form of bombings, kidnappings, indiscriminate murder of law enforcement and political assassination.The Medelln Cartel was the largest drug organization in the world at its peak, and it smuggled three times as much cocaine as the Cali Cartel.The Medelln Cartel was making over 20 billion dollars a year.

In the late 1960s, illegal cocaine trade became a major source of profit.The crime network started in New York City and later Miami, and at its peak was able to sell 300 kilomes of cocaine per day.Coffee was the chief Colombian export by 1982.Private armies were raised to fight off guerrillas who were trying to either redistribute their lands to local peasants, kidnap them, or extort the gramaje money.It was 7 and 8.

A group of people came together in Puerto Boyac at the end of 1981 and the beginning of 1982.By 1983, there were over 200 political killings by the MAS death squad, mostly community leaders, elected officials, and farmers.It was [13].

The Association of Middle Magdalena Ranchers and Farmers, ACDEGAM, was created to handle both the logistics and the public relations of the organization.Anyone who was involved in organizing for labor or peasants' rights was threatened by ACDEGAM.Anyone who was suspected of being a "subversive" would be attacked or killed by the MAS.A "patriotic and anti-Communist" educational environment, as well as roads, bridges, and health clinics, were built by AC DEGAM.Paramilitary recruiting, weapons storage, communications, propaganda, and medical services were all run out of the headquarters.[15]

The growth of ACDEGAM and MAS was significant in the 1980's.The drug trafficker paid for equipment, training, and weaponry with large amounts of cash.Money for social projects was diverted to strengthen the MAS.Modern battle rifles, such as the AKM, FN FAL, Galil, and HK G3 were purchased from the military.The communications center was run by the organization and worked with the state telecommunications office.There were 30 pilots and many fixed-wing aircraft.Instructors from the British, Israeli, and U.S. military were hired to teach at paramilitary training centers.[10][12][14][15][16][17]

The group was put under watch by the Federal Drug Task Force after being made aware of questionable activities.Evidence was gathered, compiled, and presented to a grand jury, resulting in indictments, arrests and prison sentences for those convicted in the United States.As a result of these operations, very few people were taken into custody.The "fruits" of these indictments in the United States were mostly non-Colombians.

Most of the people targeted, as well as those named in such indictments, lived and stayed in the country.By 1993 most, if not all, cartel fugitives were either imprisoned, or located and shot dead, by the Colombian National Police trained and assisted by specialized military units and the CIA.

Juan Diego Arcila Henao was the last of the lieutenants to be killed because he was hiding in Venezuela.In April 2007, he was shot and killed in his Jeep Cherokee as he exited the parking area of his home in Cuman, Venezuela.[18]

It is widely believed that Los Pepes have been involved in the assassination of the cartel's members over the last 21 years.It's not clear if the mantle is just a screen to distract from the political repercussions of the United States' involvement in these assassinations.There is a citation needed.

The implementation of an extradited treaty between the United States and Colombia was seen as the greatest threat to the Medelln Cartel.It made it possible for the US to extradite any suspected drug traffickers from the country.Since the drug traffickers had little access to their local power and influence in the US, a trial there would most likely lead to imprisonment.The police officer, the justice minister, and the Supreme Court judges were all supporters of the treaty.There is a citation needed.

Several of these supporters were subjected to a "bend or break" strategy by the cartel.When police efforts began to cause major losses, some of the major drug lords themselves were temporarily pushed out of Colombia, forcing them into hiding, where they were ordered to take out the people who supported the treaty.

The Supreme Court Judges were asked to reject the Extradition Treaty.The warnings were ignored.The group he called Los Extraditables started a campaign of kidnappings, murders, and narco-terrorist actions in order to get the attention of the government.There are 19 and 21 items.

The Palace of Justice in Bogot was besieged in 1985 by 35 heavily armed members of the M-19 guerrilla group.Some claimed that the M-19's raid was in order to intimidate the Supreme Court.The kidnapping of the sister of Juan David Ochoa by M-19 drug lord Carlos Lehder was one of several standoffs and confrontations that the two organizations had at the time.The creation of the MAS/Muerte a Secuestradores paramilitary group was a result of these kidnappings.The former guerrillas denied that the cartel was involved in the event.The issue is still being debated inside the country.There are 28 and 30 days.

Thousands of assassinations were conducted by the cartel as a means of intimidation.Whoever stood against them would be killed along with their families.The entire list is impossible to assemble due to the limitation of the judiciary power in the country.There is a brief list of the most notorious assassinations.
