Allergy, Asthma, and Clinical Immunology: What causes boggy sinuses?
Allergic rhinitis can manifest for the first time in childhood or adolescence with sneezing, rhinorrhea, and pruritus of the nose, eyes and throat.Pale blue and boggy, the nose is clear. To avoid breathing tobacco smoke, patients should be told to remove bedroom carpeting, to use foam pillows, and to keep house windows closed by using air conditioning. If these avoidance procedures, along with oral and ocular antihistamines and/or decongestants, do not provide relief of symptoms, cromolyn may be prescribed. It is more effective if it is used prophylactically.Second- generation antihistamines can reduce sedative and anticholinergic side effects. For three to four days, it's a good idea to use decongestants.Patients who are unresponsive to therapy should be treated with immunotherapy.Cromolyn is the first drug that should be used in the treatment of pregnant women.
