A homemade envelope can add a personal touch to a card or letter.You can use a few basic supplies to make an envelope at home.
Step 1: Get a paper that is twice as large as you want.
If you want a small envelope, you can cut the standard size in half and fold it up.
Step 2: Spread the paper evenly.
Half the size of your original piece is what you should get.
Step 3: The left and right sides should be taped.
The two open edges of the rectangle should be closed with tape.You will insert your letter at the top.
Step 4: Place the top down to make a flap.
A small flap can be made by folding the open edge of the rectangle.The letter will not fall out of the envelope.A flap that is less than an inch will not work.
Step 5: The card or letter should be inserted.
Put your letter, card, or other contents in the back of the flap.After this is done, fold the flap down again.

When the edge of the top right corner is touching the center crease in a straight line, fold the corner down.The shape will be a triangle with the top right corner.
Step 10: The left corner should be folded along the center crease.

Step 11: One inch of the top and bottom edges needs to be folded.
You can eyeball the fold because the measurement doesn't have to be exact.There is enough room in the center for a letter or card to fit, if the top and bottom edges are folded.The triangular point of the paper should still be facing left.
Step 12: The right edge of the paper should be folded in half.
The folded triangle on the left side of the paper should be parallel to the right side.The triangle will still be seen.If you want to unfold it, smooth out the fold with your fingers.
Step 13: Take it one step further and fold it.
Large cards may be too big for this method, but regular letter-sized paper will fit if folded in half or thirds.
Step 14: Put your message in it.
Between the horizontal crease of the envelope is where your note can go.To keep the message in the envelope, use the bottom flaps of the triangle and the two length-wise flaps at the side.
Step 15: Put the envelope in a bag.
The right hand edge of the paper should be folded back up to the triangle.The triangle top should be folded towards the center.The back of your envelope looks like it was bought in a store.
Step 16: The edges are closed.
The sides of the envelope can be secured with small pieces of tape.The flap of the envelope can be closed with tape.
Step 17: You should hand deliver your letter.
Postal services often charge more for mail pieces that are not exactly rectangular.If you don't want to pay extra shipping costs, hand deliver your homemade envelope.
Step 18: You should get a larger sheet of paper than a letter or card.
To find the right size of paper for your letter or card, you may need to go to a craft store.You will need at least a 12 x 12 inch piece of paper if your card is less than 11 inches.A 7 x 7 inch piece of paper can be used for a small card.
Step 19: The corners of the paper should be in a diamondshape.
The corners should face up and down.
Step 20: The corner should be folded to corner.
There will be two crease going from the upper left to the bottom right corner and the lower left corner.Line up two of the opposing edges, crease and unfold.If you want the paper to lie flat in a diamond shape, unfold the edges.
Step 21: Take the bottom corner and put it in the middle crease.
The middle of the paper has two creases intersect in the bottom corner.The paper should lie flat if the edge of the fold is creased.
Step 22: The bottom of the corner should be folded up to the middle crease.
The paper will be triangular.The paper's outer edges should line up perfectly.The paper should lie flat if the fold is smooth.
Step 23: The left corner should be folded to the center.
The point goes over the middle crease if the left edge of the triangle is folded.
Step 24: Place the right corner in the center.
The crease should overlap the right corner of the triangle corner.
Step 25: Take the edge of the right corner and fold it back.
The middle crease did not line up perfectly with the right corner.The vertical crease should line up with the edge of the right corner.A small triangle will be created by this.
Step 26: Put the small triangle open.
The small triangle will open into a diamond shape when you stick your finger into the fold.Spread and flatten the small triangle.There is a crease in the center of the diamond.
Step 27: Take the top edge of the envelope and put it into the small opening.
