Even though it is a little misunderstood, emo culture is still alive and well, even if you don't know it.Emo is often centered around the music of bands who write emotional lyrics, but it has evolved to include a certain way of dressing and acting as well.If you want to be emo in middle school, you only need to follow a few simple steps.
Step 1: What does it mean to be emo?
You have to understand what emo means before you can become one.People who consider themselves to be emo are usually in touch with their emotions.Even when they are sad or angry, they don't need to hide their feelings.Being comfortable with your feelings and expressing them is the most important part of being emo.You don't need to pretend that you're not feeling something if you are emo.An emo person will not try to convince everyone around them that they are happy. They express their true feelings.
Step 2: Take a listen to the music.
If you want to fit in with the emo culture, you need to know the right bands. The name Emo is actually shortened from "emotive hardcore punk" due to the fact that it originally featured a fast sound and shouted vocals.Emotions are always in the lyrics of emo music. The genre of emo was established in the mid-80s with the help of some early bands.Texas Is The Reason was one of the bands that experienced a revival in the ‘90s.Emo pop was created in the 2000s by bands like Jimmy Eat World. My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Fall Out Boy and Panic! are other bands. At the Disco was a part of the fusion genre. If you're looking for a particular style of band, listen to their early work because most of them have moved away from their emo pop roots.Emo refers to the emotional hardcore sub-genre.A fusion of emo and pop punk is called Emo pop.
Step 3: Do you think it fits your personality?
All of your friends should not make you become emo.Do you think the culture fits with your personality and interests? It's probably not the right fit for you if you're not comfortable acknowledging and expressing your emotions, such as depression and anger.Don't force yourself to become emo just because you think you'll be popular. The emo scene may not be right for you if you prefer lighter music. It is not necessary for you to like the harder edge of emo music. If the emo culture seems like a good fit for you, you shouldn't worry if your friends are too.Real friends will respect your choices and interests if you are true to yourself.
Step 4: Choose clothing that is not light.
The emo look is usually made up of dark shades and sometimes includes pops of bright colors.Black is an obvious choice, but your parents may not want you to wear it.If you want to go along with black, use other dark colors, such as navy, eggplant, and forest green. If your parents don't want you to wear dark clothing, try to compromise and wear light and bright shades. If you earn the money for them yourself, you can buy black and other dark colored clothing. You can make money by babysitting, mowing lawns, or doing other chores around the house. While black and other dark shades are the main color for emo clothing, you can work some small bits of bright color into your look. You could add a bright blue studded bracelet to an otherwise dark outfit, or you could wear a black tee shirt with artwork with red and white touches.
Step 5: Look for skinny jeans.
If you want to dress emo, sweatpants and baggy jeans are not the best option. Both girls and guys should wear skinny jeans that fit closely to their body.Girls can wear slim-fitting skirts with tights or leggings underneath.Black or dark denim skinny jeans are best for the emo look. When you want to dress emo, skinny jeans with tears, or studs are perfect. If you don't like skinny jeans, you can swap them for straight leg jeans that are a little more loose.baggy jeans will not fit the look at all, so be sure to avoid them.
Step 6: There are layers to dress in.
Dressing in layers is a common trend in emo fashion. Most of the time, that means wearing a tee shirt under a hoodie. If you don't look bulky, make sure the tee and hoodie are slim-fitting.If you want to change up your look, you can layer a short-sleeve tee over a long-sleeved shirt.Vintage band t-shirts are great under hoodies and jackets.Solid hoodies in dark colors work well for an emo outfit, but you can also opt for patterned jackets.Skulls, stripes, stars, and checkerboard designs are ideal emo patterns.
Step 7: Place your shoes in a flat position.
Don't wear shoes with high heels for an authentic emo look.Flat shoes can be any flat tennis shoes, boots, or slip-on shoes that you are comfortable in.Vans style tennis shoes are the most common type of flat shoes in emo fashion. If you are going for an emo look, you can go for a colored pair of shoes such as red or purple.Tennis shoes that are patterned work in emo fashion.
Step 8: Dark shades are good forPolishing your nails.
You should avoid bright or light colors when it comes to your nail polish.Black is the obvious choice, but if that feels too extreme for you, you can go with navy blue or a dark red.If Emo guys are comfortable with dark polish, they should wear it.Keep your nails short and square to complement your dark nail polish.Don't worry if your nail polish gets scratched. That works with the emo look.
Step 9: Put on makeup.
Heavy, dark eye makeup is a staple of the emo look. You can achieve the look by applying a lot of black eyeliner and using a cotton swab to smudge it.Make your eyes look more dramatic with a couple of coats of mascara. Before you start using makeup, make sure you have your parents' permission. If your parents allow you to wear makeup, you should check your school's dress code to make sure that you can wear eyeliner and mascara to class.
Step 10: You should get a haircut with bangs.
Strong bangs are a common feature of emo hair. They fall over one eye in most cases. When dancing to your favorite emo band, your bangs should have a shaggy look. Most emo haircuts feature layers. If you want to show off your emo hairstyle to your hairdresser, bring a couple of photos of it.You will know that they understand what you want.
Step 11: Use temporary hair coloring.
While the clothing, accessories, and makeup are usually dark, one place that bold color does often show up in the emo look is the hair. There are streaks of bright pink, purple, blue, and green in your hair.If your parents don't want you to dye your hair permanently, ask them if you can use temporary dye to add a few streaks. The length of time that it takes depends on the product. If your parents don't like the idea of you dying your hair during the school year, you may want to ask if you can do it during your summer vacation. If your parent is still not willing to allow you to use even temporary dye, you can purchase clip-in hair extensions in bright colors that are easy to remove.
Step 12: Get in touch with your thoughts and feelings.
You have to become aware of your emotions so you can recognize them.Ask yourself how you are feeling. You can tell yourself that I am angry after you have a fight with your friend or that you don't do well on a test.Allow yourself to fully feel your emotions by naming them.It is important to notice the intensity of your emotions. You might be annoyed after a friend is late to meet you, mad when your sibling calls you names, and angry when someone spreads a false rumor about you.Try to identify your full range of emotions. It might be helpful to keep a journal if you can't get in touch with your emotions. At the end of the day, write down the emotions you were feeling and what caused them.
Step 13: You should express your feelings.
When you are emo, acknowledging your feelings doesn't mean just crying or yelling. To express your emotions, try to find a creative outlet.Depending on your interests and talents, that might mean writing, drawing, painting, singing, or dancing. You can find the most satisfying way to express how you feel. You can use writing as a way to express your feelings by writing poetry, short stories, and even songs. You can use art to express your feelings by drawing or painting a scene. You can use the music of your favorite emo bands for inspiration if you enjoy singing and dancing.
Step 14: Take the time to be yourself.
Emo teens are drained by social interactions with other people. It is important to spend time by yourself so you can build your energy back up.Spending time alone gives you more time to get in touch with your emotions and engage in creative activities that allow you to express your feelings.Don't be afraid to ask your parents if you can skip out on family TV night in order to be alone in your room.Don't assume that you should spend all of your time alone just because you're emo and introverted, because some time for yourself is good for you. When you feel up to it, spend time with your friends and family.
