Be friendly.

The punk rock musicians coming out of Seattle, Washington made the wordgrunge famous.grunge describes the sound of the music that came from that era, but it is making a comeback both in fashion and attitude. You can present yourself as a lover of the genre by wearing tattered clothing and embracing individualism.

Step 1: You can shop at thrift stores for clothes.

It's a good idea to look for items that are inexpensive.People who consider themselves grunge value thrift and utility more than high- fashion labels.Anything second-hand, torn, or rundown is better.

Step 2: Wear large plaid flannel shirts.

These are typically available at thrift stores for a few dollars each, or you can buy new ones from sporting goods stores or your favorite clothing retailers.Roll up the sleeves, wear a band T-shirt underneath, or top it with a leather or jean jacket.

Step 3: Get a pair of torn jeans.

If you want to distress your jeans, buy an old pair at a thrift store and use scissors or a razor.Pairs that are too large have straight legs.

Step 4: You can expand your wardrobe with long shorts and denim overalls.

It's a great look for girls to wear tights and skirts with vintage patterns. You can layer your clothes for the ultimate style.A hallmark of the style is opposing items of clothing. You could wear a used dress with boots. If you love the bright shorts, combine them with a wool blazer-style jacket and boots for a grungy look.

Step 5: Combat boots or lace-up sneakers are clunky.

There is a wide variety of boots and thick-soled sneakers by Dr. Martens. If you don't want to wear heavy boots all day, high-top sneakers are a great option.

Step 6: Accessorize with sunglasses, tall socks, berets, and buttons.

Attach buttons with pictures of album covers from your favorite bands to your backpack or hat to show that you are a fan of the band.Chain earrings and chokers are vintage jewelry.

Step 7: Throw your hair up in a bun or ponytail, or leave it down with its natural quirks.

Keep messy hair clean with regular washing.A section of your hair could be colored with clip-in extensions, colored hair spray, or dye.Don't worry about it.There is at least shoulder-length and ungroomed facial hair for men.As long as you don't style it too carefully, you can keep your hair short.

Step 8: Don't spend a lot of money or time on makeup.

Do up your eyes with dark shades or leave your lips bare and use bright red lipstick. Both men and women can wear makeup of their choice, so don't be afraid to try it out!

Step 9: The music is essential.

The best place to start is with the three studio albums of the band, Bleach, Nevermind, and In Utero.Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger and Superunknown are two of the albums to follow.Tad, Screaming Trees, The Afghan Whigs, Hole, Babes In Toyland, L7, Stone Temple Pilots, and Mother Love Bone are all worth a look.

Step 10: You have to be yourself.

People in the culture don't really care about what other people think. If you are surrounded by people who are judging you for being different, it can be hard to do this.If you do something different from your friends, they will label you as uncool. It is okay to change. If you want to start a new activity, bring your grades up, or listen to other music besides punk rock, don't worry about looking uncool.Grunge is about doing what is right for you, and not worrying about what other people think of it.

Step 11: An interest in social issues can be taken.

A lot of the culture is about challenging the system.Spending time reading about feminism, racial issues, environmental responsibility, and LGBTQ rights can help you understand the nonconformist attitude.Stay informed! To stay up-to-date on the issues that are impacting your community and the world at large, you can start watching the news and reading the newspaper.Look for pieces written from both sides of the issue.Being well-informed isn't just about finding writers who agree with you.

Step 12: Spend time with your hobbies.

If you like to play sports, tinker with computers, or learn ballet in your spare time, keep doing those things. It is not about doing one thing over another. The do-it-yourself philosophy is closely related to the grunt culture.A hand-stapled magazine your friend made will do just fine if you don't read a big magazine.

Step 13: The negative parts of the culture should be avoided.

A lot of the lyrics in the music are about unhappiness.Everyone will feel like that at some point, so it is okay to acknowledge it.If you feel like your sadness is getting in the way of living your life, talk to someone, like a parent, close friend, or counselor. You don't have to feel alone to be grunge.
