"Registered Communications Distribution Designer" is a highly regarded designation in the information and communications technology field.It's a requirement to bid on government contracts with RCDD credentials if you want to be a master in telecommunications and data communications infrastructures.5 years of experience in the communications technology field is needed to get your RCDD.You will have to take an RCDD course and an exam.You will have to recertify your credentials every 3 years.

Step 1: For at least 5 years, you have to work in information and communications technology.

All of your experience has to be from within the last 10 years.Your collective experience can be between 2 and 5 years of design experience.Non-design experience may be included in equivalents.Your RCDD certifying institution will approve your equivalents.

Step 2: Evaluate your competencies.

Your RCDD institution expects you to have a basic knowledge of a wide variety of topics.You will have to use many of these in the field.To prepare, make sure you review industry practices and standards for common topics.

Step 3: If you don't complete your degree, you'll lose your job.

Not every RCDD certification program requires you to have post-secondary education.You can complete your associate's degree online or through your local community college.You can get a bachelor's degree through a local university.

Step 4: Evaluate if you need a qualification.

There are many jobs that give preference to those with an RCDD designation.Getting your RCDD is a strong choice if you intend for your primary job functions to be in ICT design and implementation.It may not be worth the time and money to pursue these credentials if you focus on other IT areas.

Step 5: You have to register for the courses.

Building Industry Consultants Service International (BICSI) is the industry standard for RCDD certification.You can find a course on the organization's website or through a certifying institution.You will need to take a course in designing telecommunications distribution systems.You can take courses in different areas of design.You can register online for RCDD courses.You will have to pay for your course when you register.Depending on where you register and what professional association memberships you hold, your course may cost between $500 and $1,000USD.

Step 6: All of the required course materials have been completed.

Step 10: Attend a conference approved by BICSI.

You must attend at least one conference within 3 years of your test or last recertification.There is a need for conferences in locations across the globe.If you attend another conference or trade event, BICSI will consider that for credit in place of one of their own events.If the event you are going to attend qualifies for this purpose, you need to get in touch with BICSI.

Step 11: Your renewal fee is paid.

You will need to pay a renewal fee if you want to keep your RCDD certification.You can submit your renewal online or in the mail.The fee is online and in the mail for members.The fee is $325 for non-members.The fee needs to be submitted with all the required paperwork.
