The guy parks his motorcycle and walks into the bar wearing black leather. He opens his jacket and shows off his tattoos. He puts a bill on the table, which the barkeep accepts. You can see the man has a devil-may-cry look in his eye.You like the idea of becoming a badass, because you just saw one.
Step 1: Observe.
Badassery is a state of mind.Even if he's wearing a polka-dotted tutu, that guy is still a badass. It's not quite as intimidating, but still a great fighter.Being a badass is a state of mind, like achieving nirvana, except a lot more daring. If you want to be tough and intimidating, watch a Clint Eastwood movie.Think of other mannerisms that you might dream up on your own and adopt the ones you think work for you.You can read about other famous people. They include, but are not necessarily limited to: Sun Tzu and Genghis Khan, for being Apollonian badasses in times of war, as well as the likes of Daniel Day Lewis and Jeff Bridges.
Step 2: Be sure to be confident.
This is the majority of the battle.Badasses do what they do with confidence and no fear.If you can pull it off, you will be seen as a better person than a black hole.Walk with a confident step by keeping your head up, your shoulders straight, and by walking slower and shorter with each step. Most of your weight should be put into each step.Be outcome-independent.What does outcome independence mean?Regardless of the outcome, you're okay with it.With your confidence, you can treat both rejection and approval with the same attitude. That's awesome.
Step 3: Don't be Afraid.
Badasses are brave.A certain amount of bravery is associated with being a badass, whether standing up for yourself or others, or staring down a potentially dangerous situation with a calm quietude.Don't be afraid to defend what you believe in.Push yourself out of your comfort zone.
Step 4: Let your actions speak.
An original badass will let his actions carry their full meaning.Badasses don't care about words because they are cheap.Everyone can claim to be skilled in extra-planetary travel, but not everyone can return to Earth from space. One isn't bad, the other is.
Step 5: You should obliterate your obstacles.
Don't let anything stand in your way of being a good person. One of the scariest things about becoming a good person is removing the things that are holding you back.It will happen if you have a good state of mind.If you want to master your end of the conversation, you need to develop some material with lots of anecdotes that will help you.A true badass won't want to speak but will always say something. There are ingenious fixes for hard problems. You're stuck between a rock and a hard place. The rock will be blasted away with the power of grass stalks. That's correct, of course. The best way to get out of problems is with the greatest of ease. You should plan ahead.A good balance can be found between being impromptu and planning ahead. The fair sex has an opportunity to wing it, but convincing Congress to make it easier for you to drive monster trucks in your back yard is not.
Step 6: You have your own style.
A true badass will wear what he or she wants. It's important to master a style that enhances your confidence.Looking your best will make you feel better about your place in the world. Some people associate a certain style of clothing with certain types of footwear, but that doesn't have to be you.In a Hawaiian shirt and sandals you can be a good person.Try to have a style quirk that you can call your own.Maybe you like wearing vests with pockets; maybe you only wear denim to funerals.Don't be afraid to commit to it confidently.A style quirk can become legendary.
Step 7: There are sunglasses worn.
They are the epitome of strength. It doesn't matter what you wear, as long as you have sunglasses, you'll be a better person.Even if it's not fully developed, sunglasses will protect you from close scrutiny and give you an air of confidence.
Step 8: Don't be faking.
Don't lose yourself in the struggle to become a good person.Being a good person is not about getting into trouble.Being who you are and being willing to fight for that is what it is.If you start hanging out with people who want to push you too far, you are agreeing to peer pressure.
Step 9: Un-badass things are not advisable.
You probably know what's not very good.Attempting to impress people is a reminder.A real bad guy doesn't try to fit in.While holding a respectful attitude, try to think as little as possible about what people think of you.
Step 10: Get curious.
Unless absolutely necessary, don't tell people where you're going. You should be late and nonchalant about it.Don't tell your entire life's story.Let people guess about it.
Step 11: Break the rules in small ways.
The lone wolf who gets kicked out of the pack for being too awesome, and who succeeds even more in the face of failure is the badass.Badasses choose what they do.Do you know what actions you've been lulled into doing? It is possible that you will end up sticking to your current course, but at least you chose it.Then do it confidently.
Step 12: Don't look for a fight but prepare to fight.
When respect is seriously challenged and there's no other option, a badass is unafraid to lay people out.If the occasion warrants it, try boxing.Boxing is very good.In a fight with nothing more than gloves and two giant pairs of cojones, it's mortal against mortal.Boxing is very appropriate for a person who is growing up.There is wrestling.Wrestlers don't get a lot of respect.Like boxers, they battle in a test of wit and brawn, honing their bodies until they are efficient machines of ruthless power. There's nothing sissy about that.Rugby is a sport.Football and rugby are both played in the park.Football is not as rough as rugby is.Rugby dudes break noses and dislocate fingers while running around next to no pads, and keep going. There is kung-fu.Among the best martial arts. The best way to defend yourself from people who want to fight is through martial arts.People know who they are dealing with when they play a good old asian fighting sport.
Step 13: Be attentive to your best behavior.
Don't make anyone's day worse. There is a difference between being a good person and a bad one.People respect the former but don't like the latter. The most revered badasses manage to put on a tough image while still being kind and understanding.Han Solo is a bad guy who ends up fighting for the rebels.James Bond is always for the good of Britain and is a variation on the baddie with class and grace.Samurai Jack is a noble warrior who fights armies of bounty hunters on a regular basis while putting other people's life before his own, and is also a man of kindness, honor and acceptance.Being rude, disrespectful, egocentric or arrogant is a mistake some people make. That is incorrect.A true badass is someone who has respect, courage, humility, charisma, and a burning passion for their dreams and goals.Small and large acts of kindness will ensure that you are the kind of person that people want to root for.Don't brag about your good side. Here you come!
