Are you looking for a way to make a floral arrangement? Are you creating an entire bouquet or accenting a handbag?Adding interest and texture to an arrangement can be done with flowers from hessian fabric. You can use the flowers for clothing, accessories, or to decorate. There are so many possibilities.
Step 1: Cut a strip of fabric.
Your rose will be larger if you cut the strip wider. The same reasoning applies to how long you cut the strip. The cut material should be around two and a half centimeters in width and 45 inches in length.Don't try to follow the grain of the fabric.
Step 2: Wrap the other end around the stem.
Take one end of the strip and wrap it around the wire.At your local craft store or online, you can find wire that is used to make flowers.
Step 3: Attach the end to something with hot glue.
Place a line of hot glue next to the wire that is not yet rolled.Take the wire and rolled piece of burlap and lay it over the hot glue.Allow the glue to cool down.
Step 4: Wrap and glue again.
Continue until the roll is about a half-inch thick, or one and a quarter centimeters. This is the center of your rose.
Step 5: The fabric should be folded in the opposite direction.
The strip is two inches from the wire roll. The fabric should be folded over and away from the roll. You should pinch the fold at the bottom of the flower base. This is your first flower.
Step 6: Make a second fold around the stem.
As you pinch the first fold with one hand, slightly turn the stem as you make another fold about a half-inch, or one and a quarter centimeters, from the original with your opposite hand.Along with the other one, gather this second flower.
Step 7: Attach the folds together.
Glue the folds towards the flower base with hot glue.As the glue dries and cools down, be sure to hold the folds together.
Step 8: Continue to glue the petals together.
You have to repeat steps five, six and seven.Attach the fabric at the base of the flower with glue.As you work around the stem, keep turning the wire.
Step 9: You should stop folding if you have at least six to eight inches of loose burlap.
The length is about one and a half to two decimeters. You should have something that looks like a rose, but keep some fabric loose in order to finish it.Attach the last folds with hot glue.
Step 10: Wrap the rest of the base.
Wrap the rest of the rose stem around the base to make it look finished.Wrap the base around and secure it with glue or use the end to make one last flower.
Step 11: You can match the burlap with what you are using it for.
You might want to rethink putting a flower on a blouse.Make sure that the piece of burlap you hold matches the material you want to use it on.
Step 12: Correct size the flowers.
Make sure you fit your flowers correctly for your project, sometimes bigger isn't always better. It is a good idea to start with a fabric that is one and a half inches wide by 30 inches long. The longer the strips of burlap, the more petals you will have.
Step 13: Cut a strip in half.
Place a strip of burlap on a table and fold it in half.If you fold the strip in half, it should be three-quarters of an inch wide.
Step 14: Roll one end inward several times.
Roll the folded strip inward by picking up one end.Continue rolling and you will be able to create the center of your flower.
Step 15: The burlap should be moved away from the center.
As you hold the rolled center with one hand, begin folding and twisting the burlap around the centerpiece.Don't keep the rest of it folded in half.If you need to restart, roll and twist the burlap around the center.
Step 16: Attach hot glue to the end of the burlap.
If you want your flower to not fall when you start working on the base, hold it in place for several minutes.
Step 17: Attach a felt center to the flower base.
To make sure the flower is fully contained, place hot glue on the bottom and sides.Hold the pieces together until the hot glue is dry and set, then cover the bottom with a felt center.
Step 18: Cut a strip of material.
You should cut along the same path as the fibers. The end result will be determined by the width and length of the strip you cut. It's good to have one and a half to three inches, or 3.81 to 7.62 centimeters. For the length, choose between 15 to 30 inches or 3.81 to 7.62 decimeters.
Step 19: Put a strip of hot glue on one end.
Place a strip of glue down the length of one end of the flower to secure it.Place it in place by folding the edge over and pressing down.
Step 20: Pull the string from the other side.
There is one string on the opposite end of the strip.Take the string away from the rest of the strip.A strip of bunched, gathered burlap should be what you end up with.
Step 21: Glue the ends together.
Take each end of the bunched strip and circle it around to connect them.Attach the ends with hot glue.
Step 22: Remove the loose strings.
After you bunch and glue your burlap together, you will have a lot of frayed ends.Even though you are going for a frayed look on this one, trim any ends that look out of place.
Step 23: There is a button or stone in the middle.
Adding a button to the middle will add a decorative touch to your flower. You can use another piece of fabric to make your flower look like a daisy.
