I'm not an electrician.I bought an air-conditioning unit.My friend lifted it up.
The manual always recommends that I leave it to rest. The times ranged from 1 to 24 hours. After transit, the manual says this is to let the refrigerant settle.
The oil mixed with the refrigerant lubricates the compressor. The refrigerant can move to other parts of the system if it's tipped over or upside down. The air conditioner may not work if you turn it on in this condition.Wait 24 hours before using it, set it in the correct position. Most manuals recommend 24 hours to be safe, but less than an hour should be fine.
So no.The air conditioner won't be damaged if you move it upside down.It can damage it if you try to run it too soon after it's been upside down.
