Can I have wood floors all the way to my fireplace wall? What is the floor in front of the fireplace called?
I have tile in my living room.I want to leave the tile, but I also want a laminated woodwal.
The house was bought with all white walls, oak colored wood floors, beige carpet and brown couches.
Is there a way to match the wood grain tiles to the floor? We are considering using a lot of the designs in our living room.As inviting as wood floors. They are good as new.Just a thought.
I need advice on a similar problem, however this is an old thread. We have asked our builder to build a hole in the wall for a vertical gas fire. The hole for the fire is from the floor and we won't have a fireplace, but we wanted it to be Karndean. It should be raided before the fitting. There is a window on one side and French doors on the other side.Thank you for any advice.
The tile in front of the fireplace was torn out to make way for new tiles. There is no tile in front of the fireplace.I worry the heat will ruin the wood finish on my engineered hard wood floors because I am being told I don't need the tile in front.
Did you ever get an answer? We just pulled up our carpet, and I want to take the tile all the way to the gas fireplace that we are going to install next week. Thanks!
I agree with jennyabe that I don't like the look of a fireplace. The fireplace in our home was made for both wood and natural gas.We converted it to be a gas fireplace.I have a brick fireplace that juts out into the room.My husband doesn't want me to take a cold chisel and sledge hammer to it myself.I'm getting the idea that I could have the fireplace removed. There is a nice tile on the floor in front.I don't like the raised brick fireplace. My 9 year old son uses it as a dumping ground.I think I'll destroy the brick elephant in my living room.I like the discussion.I have to deal with the floor to ceiling brick that surrounds it.It's definitely not my cup of tea.The room looks dark when the sun goes down because the windows are on the east side.I would love a white marble fireplace surround.I'll paint the brick a bright, metallic, reflective white.
Sorry to take so long to reply. My wood is right against my fireplace after I removed the hearth. The gas fireplaces don't get hot enough to damage my engineered wood floors, so I called a few builders. The Shaw wood floor rep responded the same way as I did.I have been using the fireplace and have to admit I am a little worried.I really like the look of it.
I took out the ugly tile and put in a white tile.I'm painting the mantle white while I wait for it to be finished.
I am going through the same thing. My husband wants to put tile on the floor in front of the fireplace, but I want the laminate to go all the way to the wood burning fire place.Would that work?My husband thinks it would be a fire hazard.Should we talk to the fire department? Thanks!
