Rub 'n Restore® is a leather finish, not a dye, but is an excellent for restoring or recoloring genuine leather purses and bags. Cognac goes on looking orange but dries an earthy saddle color. Dabbing or stippling the color to create a mottled appearance will allow future wear to look more natural and intended.

Can all leather be dyed?
Dyeing leather isn't tricky, but it is a little about trial and error. This instructable is exclusively about dyeing plain vegetable tanned leather, but even vegetable tanned leathers can have different reactions to dye, so it's always a good idea to do a dye test run before going right to the final piece.
