What can be used instead of anti-seize?
Re: HOUSEHOLD ANTI SEIZE SUBSTITUTE? Vaseline won't do much for long, too thin. Graphite might work a bit, but is not likely to stay, and you don't want to get anything on the electrodes. Graphite grease is probably just as bad as any other grease.
Is copper grease the same as anti-seize?
Copper Grease is mineral based and may damage any rubber component that it comes into contact with such as rubber boots, gaiters, seals and O rings, etc. Copper Grease has poor lubricating properties. It is in fact an anti-seize compound.

What can be used in place of anti-seize?
- Copaslip. Copaslip is an anti-seize compound consisting of finely divided copper particles in a non-melting bentone base to which are added highly effective oxidation and corrosion inhibitors.
- Molyslip/MolyKote:
- Grease:
- Lubricating Oil.
- Vaseline/Petroleum Jelly/Soft Soap:
Does anti-seize have metal in it?
It is silver in color and contains copper, aluminum and graphite. Like Silver Grade, Food Grade Anti-Seize protects metal parts against rust, corrosion, galling and seizure at temperatures up to 1800° F. Food Grade meets NSF H1 requirements for incidental food contact.
Loctite® Silver Grade Anti-Seize Heavy-duty, temperature resistant, petroleum-based lubricant compound fortified with graphite and metallic flake. Inhert and will not evaporate or harden in extreme cold or heat.
Can I use grease instead of anti-seize?
grease reduces the friction between two surfaces and allows them to pass over each other with less effort. anti-seize stops two surfaces bonding together. You can use grease quite effectively as an anti-seize compound. It's not as good in high temperature applications, but there aren't any of those on a bike.
Is anti-seize necessary?
There is no reason to use more anti-seize than absolutely necessary on the threads you are coating. Additional anti-seize does not offer any more corrosion protection and is simply a waste of product. Too much anti-seize applied to the threads of a bolt.
Where should you not use anti-seize?
Do not use anti-seize as a lubricant such as on caliper slide pins or on threads for a bushing press or any mechanical assembly that requires a lubricant. Do not use anti-seize on exposed threads because the compound can attract contaminants that may contribute to thread damage when the fastener is removed.
Should I use anti-seize?
Anti-seize can act as a lubricant, altering torque values up to 20 percent, increasing the risk of spark plug thread breakage and/or metal shell stretch. Do not use anti-seize or lubricant on NGK spark plugs. It is completely unnecessary and can be detrimental.
When should you not use copper anti-seize?
One of the reasons not to use copper anti-seize in industry is that it can kill some catalysts - like in a refinery. So expensive to replace. But your wheels and exhaust pipe studs, spark plugs - they won't care about that.Jun 1, 2020
