Can pseg shut off service during the winter?

The pse&g "worry free" contract cost me two years.I called them to fix my furnace for the first time today. The earliest service date will be 10/26/09.I have a baby in the house.I can't wait more than three weeks for them to fix my heating system. It will take more than three weeks to fix a problem before you sign up.Pse&g's "worry free" contract is a total rip off and I strongly suggest you not buy from them.I want to see if I can buy electricity from other suppliers.

PSEG will find a way not to honor the coverage you have been paying for.You should be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes whenever you call.I scheduled a service appointment after calling. After looking at the fridge for 30 seconds, the technician said he knew what the problem was.I was told to buy a new compressor.I asked if that was covered by WorryFree and he said it was, but he kept repeating that someone will call me in a day or so to discuss coverage and if anything needed to be paid out of pocket. It was odd since he told me it was covered by WF.I was told that the parts were not covered and that I would have to pay $600.I waited for 45 minutes and asked why.The person I spoke to was useless.I thought she confused me by her rudeness.A supervisor would call me back in a few days. The service department supervisor I needed to speak to was not called by the call center supervisor.More time wasted! The service department supervisor spoke in a quiet tone and was told that the issue had to have been present for a long time and that their policy wouldn't cover it.Is the point of buying insurance? An insurance policy is purchased to cover unforeseen expenses. If the insurance company tells you that your house is in a flood zone but won't pay for your flooded basement, what's the point of getting flood insurance?I couldn't believe they were running a scam. The supervisor's response was well scripted and executed. They are right and you are wrong and stupid if you don't know the items hidden in the fine prints.I cut my losses and stopped WorryFree coverage.I will call a local servicer.I reluctantly give my business to PSEG because they are the only gas company in my area.I used to have WorryFree at my old house. They wouldn't have provided service if I had given them all that money.Don't be foolish. It isn't "Worry Free".

In the summer my wife needs constant air conditioning. The bill averages over 400 dollars from June to September. In case something broke down, we had a worry free contract. Her doctor sent the requirement for air conditioning to the company. We got some help from the state, but it wasn't enough to cover the costs.Every penny counts as we are on a fixed income. When we make a payment, the money goes to the utility bill, leaving out the worry free payment.I received a notice that my worry free contract had been canceled. How can I pay for both? They won't take a partial payment to get me back on my worry free plan.Do they care if she dies? They don't care.!

There were no issues.Repairs are done correctly if they come out within a day or two.You will have to wait for the part to be ordered if the problem is an odd one.I had an exhaust blower for my boiler. They replaced a faulty gas valve this year.Capacitors were replaced on ac units the same day. They can't carry every part for every unit. They would need a trailer. It is payin off for me so far.I have never been told I needed a new appliance.Repairs always fixed the problem.Sorry that other people are having problems.

We are very lucky after reading all the previous comments. We've had a worry free contract with pse&g for 20 years and we update every time we buy an appliance. They did repairs on our central ac unit for 25 years. We knew it was time for a new unit because our ac unit was over 25 years old and the fan broke at the end of last summer. Our refrigerator, wall oven, and glass cook top have been repaired or replaced by them. The dishwasher we purchased had a 2-year warranty.I added the dishwasher to the contract at the end of the warranty period because we didn't initially add it.2 months past the warranty date, the dishwasher broke. The repairman told us that the motor was shot and that it would cost $600 to fix.The dishwasher had to be pulled out from under the kitchen counter and turned upside down because the motor was on the bottom of the unit. The repairman cleaned the entire area after he put the dishwasher back under the kitchen counter. Thanks to their service, we have no complaints.Keep up the good work.We need an estimate for replacing the ac unit.

When I moved into my house in 2005, I didn't have to worry about protecting myself. The ac failed on the hottest day of the year. They were out the next morning after I called worry free. The bad news was that the system needed to be replaced, so I got three options and chose the high efficiency unit.Since installation, it has not worked well. The heat was a problem because the 12 v fuse kept going out.The tech said that the condensation was causing the vent to burn out.I missed work because I had to do that menu.I had a contact person after I complained to the board of public utilities that they never showed.I have had many problems since that time.I have had to buy roll away ac units and window units because of the cooling season problems.I have electric space heaters as well. When they fixed it last year, they thought it was fixed, but it froze again.I was angry and still am.The man who was working on my system promised me that if the system had not leaked then they would replace it.He told me that his supervisor told him not to come because it was a bpu issue. He said he wasn't aware of the development.I'm done. The utility can't fix a system that they installed and worry free is a waste of money.I will call the $12, 000 installation a lesson if I get a new system.

Don't sign the WorryFree contract.I spoke to a supervisor and got an appointment for the repair of my hot water boiler. The premier plan is what I have. They decided to change out parts after two service calls.Don't worry, the tech says you have the best plan. The parts are not visible.Who knows what part fixed the boiler. The bill has an extra charge for a part. The tech notes they worked on a furnace when I called the customer service who said my contract was for a hot water boiler.I asked for a supervisor after trying to explain that my furnace is a hot water boiler system. There are no available. Thanks a lot.I was able to understand what the equipment was after a call the next day.The premier plan does not cover a gas valve. The tech had to refer me to the worry free department for a ruling after I advised what he told me.Been days without a call.I will cancel this contract once the winter is over.Stay away from people.

I have been paying for my warranty for fifteen years.I used it once for a small repair. We noticed that the upstairs unit wasn't heating the area.We called for help. They arrived on time. The two men told me that they had bad news. The furnace was not covered by the contract and had to be replaced. They gave me an extimate on the same day.I was quoted 100.00 to replace my unit.I didn't like the idea of having to replace a fifteen year old furnace. On the net day, I was referred to a heating repair man.The flame sensor needed to be replaced after he opened the unit.He charged me a lot.I was wondering if the pse&g guys lied in order to sell me a new unit.Shouldn't they have looked at the flame sensor first?I will be canceling my contract.

I had a bad experience with them. We've been paying for their plan for 10 years. The plan did not transfer when we moved houses a few months ago.We used them for the first time today without the plan, but we never needed them before. They wouldn't let us retroactively add the plan even though we had it at our previous address for 10 years, but I let that go because I was expecting too much.I had to wait 2 days to get an appointment because it was very cold in December. When they got here, they diagnosed a simple "thermocoupler" problem which we had already researched and learned that the part only costs $10-$15.We were charged $123 for the whole thing. It's not cheap, since a private company was charging about $90 for a thermocoupler change, which we suspected was the problem from our internet research and attemps to light the pilot.Even that I was okay with, I had hoped pseg would be a bit more reasonable in price, but at least they agreed to come out for free and diagnose the problem first before charging.I let the pricing go as well. When the pilot went out again after installing the new part, they wanted to make an appointment 2 days later to fix the same issue, which made me angry. It made no sense for them to come out and not fix the issue and give me appointments a few days later, even though I was able to excuse them for the first two days of delays and no heat. This should have been part of the call. They agreed to come out after 4 pm, but if it didn't work in the evening, I would have to make another appointment. They wouldn't charge me for more labor if they replaced the same part, but the fact that I had to wait a couple of days to get them was unacceptable.I tried to talk to a supervisor about it, but they put me on hold twice just to get through to him, since they knew I was going to ask for an exception. He was very cold when I got him on the line.I offered to let them off the hook for the 2nd appointment if they would not charge me for that morning and I could prove that I went with a private company.I let them know that I trusted their work and that it was difficult for me to make an appointment for an emergency. They kept making excuses for themselves, such as it's cold, a lot of breakdowns, and it takes time for us to free up a technician. If you are in the business of heating repairs, you should have enough technicians on hand to deal with emergencies. It's part of your business.Don't claim to be in that business.Critical injuries can't be looked at for 2 days in an emergency room. They argued with me that all contractors in this field have delays, but that isn't true, the 2 private companies I called were ready to send someone immediately, and I'm pretty sure they would have costed the same if not less.I usually don't write reviews, but I will occasionally do it for good or bad service.Since I believe people's good deed should be recognized, I have done good reviews as well. I was angry enough to get off my lazy duff and write this review.Because I rely on reviews from other people and I believe its only fair that I contribute mine occasionally to warn people so they don't go through the same hassles I went through.I hope that was helpful. If the date is in question, this review was written on the 2nd of December. If anyone is thinking of getting pseg iworryfree in the next 6 months, I wouldn't - perhaps try again in 2016 and pray their service is better.

The billing is all wrong, I had a 12.00 pm call, they hung up, and I am cancelliny worry free.

Three weeks ago, I scheduled a service guy from PSE&G to come to my house to fix my electric dryer.I waited for him for 4 hours. The service guy told me that he did not have the parts with him, but he could buy them from a local store.I asked him to call me if he can get the parts, he said, and I repeated my request one more time.He just took off and left me hanging.I called customer service to complain and they didn't seem to care at all.I did.A different service guy came to diagnose the problem. He told me he can't use the pre-ordered parts because the previous guy misdiagnosed and needed a dryer fuse/thermal kit.He told me that he would go to a local store and get the parts and he'd be back.I was happy. He told me that he fixed it and gave me a $20 tip. When I opened the dryer door after 90 minutes of drying, my clothes were still wet, and the whole inside of the door was wet.We have to clean the lint filter every two loads of drying, so we had to dry the clothes 4 times after each wash.I took apart the dryer myself after researching the problem online.I was surprised that the last service guy didn't put the big lint duct panel back in place. There is a lint duct panel on the floor. My entire inside of the dryer was full of lint because I didn't have this duct panel.I had my dryer working again after 90 minutes after I cleaned all the lint inside and screwed it back up, but I didn't have a lot of room in my laundry area.I can't believe a professional service guy will make such a big boo boo, when he had spare screws in his hand after a job's done, he wondered, "Hmm maybe there are something I forgot to screw them back."

Under the "Worry Free" plan, I have an air conditioner contract. The unit was unable to cool the house. The service man showed up on time, but he couldn't do anything because the unit has leaked out and the cooling coil is in the attic.PSEG does not do work in the attic according to him.I called the office to confirm and was told it was in the fine print of the contract. So buyers beware! The company must be arrogant.I would stay away from them.

I am sad to see these reports. My family retired from there after I worked for them for many years. The Board of Public Utilities should be contacted if you are having issues. They regulate the utilities in the state. When we received a BPU complaint, it was the main focus of those involved as answers have to be provided within a few days.

Do you think you're worry free?Nah.On 5 degree days, show up 2 or 3 times and say there's no problem with the system. After taking a strong call, they sent a tech the next day who found the problem and fixed it on the spot. What does pse&g do?The contract is canceled by them.I have had good luck with them in the past, but recently they have been terrible. The "worry free" water heater contract doesn't cover any part that touches water. This means that the burner is covered. It's all over. The burners almost never fail.If you need a new tank, they will tell you to pay a lot of money for it.Their contract is so cheap.

The draft motor on my furnace is making a loud noise.I called to have the furnace fixed because of my Worry Free service plan. The technician was very professional and friendly, but he told me the motor was no longer available.I called their office and spoke with a supervisor after I found that hard to believe. He said that the motor wasn't available from their source.I asked him why they couldn't get it from someone else.It was an absolute rip-off.I typed in the model number of the motor and found a replacement for a very reasonable price. If your car ran out of gas in front of an XX gas station, would you put some in it?These guys need to keep up with the times.

It is not a worry free revenue stream for the customer. Each year I was charged $32/lb to add R-22, I had two central air AC units.I was charged for 5 lbs without knowing how much was in each unit.PSEG wouldn't check for leaks due to the high cost of leak testing and the fact that it may never be found. The goal is to replace the entire unit for $3500.I thought it was like having a leak in a tire and a car dealer asking to replace it.I received an estimate from Sears to replace the entire system. There was a leaking soldered joint in the copper tubing going into the air handling unit. After fixing the leaks, the system was filled with R-22 and brought back to working condition for $400.It took about two hours to do the work.I saved $250 per year by cancelling two air conditioner contracts.I will cancel my contracts after I finish writing this post.

ripoff!3 visits by their A/C "professionals" did not diagnose a burned out motor in the air handler. The first visit said to clean your filters because my ac performance was degrading.I paid a contractor 85 dollars to diagnose the burned motor.I told PS&G what the contractor found. The motor is ok after they visited again. They charged me for 2 pounds of freon that I didn't need. The 3rd visit said that my part was covered under the warranty, but that they didn't have enough clearance to work in the area. The A/C unit is up to code, but the PS&G requires 4 feet of head room in the attic around where they are working to refuse to repair it.The guy acted like he didn't want to leave the truck and was complaining about how hot the attic was.The are either dishonest, lazy or incompetent.!

The Worry Free program is a scam.Do not think that you are protected.I called the company to see if they could fix my AC.After 5 minutes, they said that my compressor is broken. The Worry Free Program does not cover this. How much did I ask?$4, 200.He said he could replace the entire unit on a Sunday.I received the quote from him.I called another company to make sure. The wire that wasn't connected was diagnosed and fixed for $300.Can you believe that? They were going to rip me off. It's a complete scam to run away from the Worry Free Program.

I had a worry free plan for 2 years. There were leak issues with my a/c.They wanted me to pay for the leak detection and the replacement of the coil. They had their coverage in the first place.I replaced my entire unit through a local contractor who was much cheaper than the pseg quote.
