Cell Phone Extensions can help small- and medium-sized businesses of all kinds, but since we see them used most often with real estate agents, we'll use them as an example.
What is a mobile phone extension?
An extension is a three to six-digit number identifying a specific call path configuration that allows you to dial and connect to another caller internally. This is not a DID phone number but rather an internal extension. Callers can also dial directly by extension or use the speed dial feature.
What is a phone extension example?
For example, if my mobile phone number is 801-555-9864 I could create an extension code 964 that I list on my company directory (as “801-555-9864 extension 964” or simply “801-555-9864-964”). Callers that use a valid extension code will cause the called phone to ring.
