Can you paint over Bondo with one coat?

Bondo shouldn't be on top of bare metal if you want it to stick and last.

Do you have to use self etching primer? You can't paint over the primer. You need a primer or seal over it.

You can apply over bare metal. The area needs to be sanded with at least a 150 so the filler can grab to it.Don't paint the wall until the primer is completely dry, which can take up to 3 hours. The drying times are prolonged by high humidity and cool temperatures.

If a few minutes go by, it will start to get rubbery. You can use a utility knife, hand planer or bondo rasp to carve it.You can start sanding it within 10 to 15 minutes if you leave enough time.

That is normal. It's just that the patches of bondo soak up the primer differently than the metal.Allow it to dry and then give the entire truck a light sand and apply a couple more coats of epoxy.

I let it sit for 30 to 45 minutes before I sand it.I go straight for the primer after it's blocked out.I think the shrinkage is in the primer, not the bondo. The primer should be sitting for two or more weeks.

Can you apply bonding over primer?Yes.You can apply over bare metal. The area needs to be sanded with at least a 150 so the filler can grab to it.

You can use primer and glaze putty.Something pops up after it has been primed on occasion, either pin holes or lows. You may be doing this, but I suggest you use a Guide coat in your body augmentation stages.
