Well, no more different than digital pianos are from acoustic ones! Electronic drums are designed to keep the noise down, literally. Unlike digital pianos, they don't quite manage to totally cut the noise out. Playing e-drums is much about recreating the feel of playing a real acoustic drum set than making the music.
