In most cases, it's perfectly legal to do so, but in some private areas and even certain public shopping plazas, they might prohibit the use of scooters. We highly recommend that you DO NOT use your mobility scooter or power wheelchair on a bike lane or main road where automobiles are meant to drive.

Shopmobility schemes are available to anyone, regardless of their age, if their disability is permanent or temporary and you do not have to be registered disabled to be able to make use of the Shopmobility scheme. Some Shopmobility schemes are free to use and others make a charge.

How fast can mobility scooters go UK?
You can only drive on the road in a class 3 mobility scooter. The maximum speed is 8mph. You cannot drive on bus lanes, 'cycle only' lanes or motorways. Avoid using dual carriageways with a speed limit of over 50mph.

Even though most jurisdictions do not permit mobility scooters on the road, even if they were permitted, we would not recommend operating one on a road. Mobility scooters, as convenient as they are, simply do not offer any protection from the elements and do not travel fast enough to keep up with traffic.
