What is the best surgical glue?
There are many brands of surgical glue available, however, Dr. Alexandre Charão recommends Liquiband, and Dermabond Prineo. Liquiband and Dermabond Prineo both come in liquid form.
How long does Vetbond last?
The glue will slough off by itself over the course of 5-7 days. Do not apply more than a thin layer to prevent the glue from running. Try to keep the glued area dry while the cut is healing. Surgical glue is resistant to water, but it will slough off faster if it's being held in the shower or washing dishes.2019-06-25
Can I use Vetbond on myself?
It works well and I've used it for closing cuts, mostly on humans and mostly myself. However, it fairly quickly dries to a hard blue rock once opened even if the cap is on snugly, so that's $18 to fix a single cut.
Can I use superglue instead of Dermabond?
You can use Super Glue to close wounds. For the medicine kit, however, the FDA has approved a less toxic, more flexible formulation (2-octyl cyanoacrylate) called Dermabond. It dries fast, stops the bleeding, keeps out dirt and air, and typically stays in place until the cut is healed.2019-08-26
