Can't go over 4,000rpm, Drive Accord Honda Forum.
Many high mileage vehicles have the same symptoms that a car used to have. When driving up a steep hill or quickly trying to accelerate into traffic, these signs become clear, even if a driver doesn't notice them.
Drivers will notice that the engine of their vehicle is struggling to keep up when it is in those situations.
There are no serious or immediate concerns regarding major engine problems in high mileage vehicles.Minor causes should be checked first in order to locate the issue and possibly fix it as well. Some of the most common causes are listed here.
The inlet air cleaner has a mass air flow sensor attached to it.Since the function of the air flow sensor is to measure air mass that is flowing into air intake, a bad mass airflow sensor could send the wrong data to the engine.
The function of an oxygen sensor is to monitor the exhaust emissions of the vehicle so that it can analyze the air-fuel ratio going through the engine of that vehicle.
A car needs a proper amount of fuel in order for the fuel to burn properly in the cylinders so that it can run smoothly and accelerate as required.
If the sensor is damaged, the engine of the vehicle will have no idea what the ratio of air-fuel mixture to use will be.
The slow acceleration of the vehicle can be caused by this, even if the pedal is completely pressed.
The throttle position sensor is used to detect the opening angle of the throttle valve. The data will be sent to the ECU by the TPS.
The engine speed can't be controlled by the pedal if the TPS is malfunctioning.
A dirty fuel filter is one of the reasons a car doesn't accelerate like it should.
The engine won't be getting enough fuel if the fuel filter is dirty. The fuel filter needs to be replaced.
The engine of a vehicle with clean air to be used in the air-fuel mixture which will be sent to the combustion chambers is the same as the engine with a fuel filter.
Slow acceleration can be caused by the engine not getting the right air-fuel mixture. The air filter needs to be replaced.
This component is what it sounds like. The timing belt is a key component of an engine. If this belt is off, it may cause some serious problems.
There are other causes of poor acceleration.Slow acceleration may be caused by a slipping clutch, the transmission system itself, or an unexpected problem which may surprise even veteran mechanics.
I recommend that you take the car to a mechanic who will give you a full checkup if you are not comfortable with it.He will be able to diagnose the issue and recommend a fix.
I have a Toyota Avalon 2005, which I drove out with ease in the morning and came back to park, but three hours later it started jerking and I wanted to take it out.
There could be many reasons.I would have the car looked at by a mechanic.
I own a Chevy 1500.I have had issues with it the last few days.I have had the check engine light on for a while now, one code saying the fuel is too rich and another saying it's too lean, and I noticed there is a lost of performance with the truck.I filled up the truck a couple of days ago and put some fuel cleaner in it, but the next day it wouldn't start, so I went to a drive-through and it made a weird noise. When I press the gas it won't go but it will start and run all day long.I thought it was the MAF sensor since I got a new one and unplugged the battery to reset the pcu, but it still works. It will run fine for about 5 minutes.I am not sure if it is the fuel pump or not. Please help.
Diagnostic work is likely to uncover the cause of the issue. If it is a fuel system issue, I would change the fuel filter since it has been a while since that was done.It should be done on a regular basis.A fuel pressure test is one of the fuel system tests you could do to see if everything is working correctly.
My car has a problem of acceleration after a few kilometers of traffic. If I press the gas pedal, it won't accelerate.I have to cool it down and start driving again.Any idea?
I own a 2006 D4D 44 TD Hilux.Occasionally, I have a power/acceleration problem.When it starts happening around 2000rpm, she goes off after a while.The air flow sensor has been cleaned.Any suggestions on what this may be?Thanks!
Did you have any check engine lights?Scan data will point you in the right direction. If you don't have a scanning tool, a good shop should be able to do this.
I'm Hi.I have a car that won't accelerate or move when on an incline. It has no power issue if it is in motion and moving on an incline. It does not know if it is related or not. What could be wrong?
Hi Samuel. There is not enough information to take a stab at the problem, as there could be many things that could cause a loss of power on a hill.If you take the car to a local mechanic, they will be able to diagnose the problem.
Whenever I pass through a small portion of water, my corolla suddenly refuse to start. Will have to keep going for a while before it picks up again. What could be the cause?
You should check your air intake. If you need to replace your air filter, take a look at it.Are you running the stock intake?
I have a 2008 Toyota camry, if I start the car in the morning and switch to drive it doesn't move until I push the throttle high before it starts moving and after some minutes it picks normally and I can use it throughout the day without any issues. My reverse is moving smoothly.Thank you.
The parking brake might be getting stuck. It will be easier to move the car after the brakes get so hot that they start to fade if your rear brakes are dragging.Even if you don't use the parking brake a lot, one or more rear calipers could be stuck.
While parked in a safe area away from traffic, engage the parking brake like you normally would when you park.Shift into drive, and see if it is harder to get the car moving. You probably have an issue with the rear brakes if it is.
The bluish hot spots on the rear rotors are caused by stuck parking brakes. This happens when the brakes don't work. You should change the brake pads and brake fluid if you see hot spots. If you don't know what hot spots look like, you can search for "overheated brake rotors".
I don't use parking brake.First thing in the morning when I start my car, it suppose to roll on its own, but I have to rave the engine from 1,3 before it will move.I will have to rave the engine for a while before it picks up.It functions well on therne road, but after being parked for hours and the temperature of the car drops, it becomes a problem.Thank you.
Hmm.I am not sure if that is a transmission issue or a brake issue, but it sounds like it is.I don't think I have a good recommendation there.I would bring it to the transmission shop to see what they had to say.It is worth the cost if you do some diagnostics on the vehicle.
It is probably not safe at 10 mph.It is best to have it towed to a mechanic to see what is going on.
I have a car. When I push on the break, my car jerks and then it feels like it still wants to go for a second, and sometimes it will only go to 20 mph, then the RPMs go up real high.
I am not sure if it is a transmission issue or a throttle control issue. It will need to be diagnosed at a shop so you can figure out what's wrong.Until it's fixed, I wouldn't drive any more than you have to.If it is a throttle control issue, that is very dangerous and could result in unintended acceleration if the issue is not addressed.
I have a desiel car and sometimes it won't work and other times it will just throttle down when I start it.
A key detail mechanics need to know is how to replicate an issue. You could save a lot of money if you shorten the diagnostic process.
