Your engine can't do what it's supposed to.The Throttle positioning Sensor could be the cause.To verify trouble codes, have the vehicle scanned.
If you have an open corcuit, you will need to pull the code from the engine management system to find out what has gone wrong.You can get the codes for free at autozone.If you are so inclined.
They usually have a check engine light and a code that says something is wrong with it.
I am getting an error code when the check engine light is on.The Bank 2 / Sensor 1 Heater Circuit is malfunctioning.The truck might go into reduced engine power after the motor is running for a while.
If it's not heating up properly, the readings will be inaccurate and the computer will react accordingly, so check the O2 heater circuit, it may have blown a fuse, or the resistance is too high inside.The car is almost 10 years old this fall so you might think about replacing the upstream O2 sensors as a maintenance item, but don't worry about those until you get a code for them, they seem to last twice as long as upstream.

If the check engine light is on and there is a code in it, then you should swing by an auto zone and have the codes pulled, write them down, and then someone will jump in and help you with further diagnosis.

Do you mean 89 octane?Fuel should not turn on the light if the owners manual recommends that, things like a loose gas cap and fuel tank ventilating controls can cause it to do so.Someone will hop on and help you along with further diagnosis if you swing by a place that can pull codes like autozone and see what they tell you.Hth.

There is a problem with the 2003 chevy trailblazer, the subs were hooked up wrong not paying attention, and now in restricted power mode, all of the fuses are good under the hood, but the rear seat and fuze box are not.

There is a common problem with the new body style of Chevrolet Malibu.When the engine fails, it goes into reduced power mode and you have to coast to the breakdown lane.This is dangerous and should be recalled.Chevrolet has no parts available so you can't get the sensor.My 2016 Chevy Malibu hybrid has been in the shop for 19 days and is under a full factory warranty.The life-threatening sensor I had in the car three weeks ago is the same one I am waiting for.I lost power on the freeway twice.We will get more information when someone dies with one of these cars.I hope it is not you.

If the check engine light is high and you have an emission component in failure, the power train warranty only covers the basic engine and transmission.Save yourself some money and go to a good independent shop in your area, you get more bang for your buck that the dealership chose one with good reviews and you won't be disappointed.
This issue was the same in 2016 Malibu.The gear shift sensor was the first thing that came to mind.It took 2 trips to the dealership to get that resolved.This is the engine power reduced problem.I will never feel safe driving this again because they're replacing something with the gas pedal.It's back to Toyota for me.
There is a problem with my premiere.The first instance was about a year after I bought the car.It was in the "engine power reduced" mode for about 6 months after that.One way to get to work on a major highway is to drive for 45 minutes.The dealership can't get me in for 3 days.I am not hopeful that this will be a small issue.
Sorry but you are wrong.The Chevy Malibu burns oil faster because of it's performance.You have to check your oil.The reduction happened to me today.I was down two quarts.Put in two quarts and you're back to full power.I think this is a warning system.The engine power is reduced if the car is running low on oil.Keep an eye on the oil level.Add some if it drops.It's a performance issue and a good one, although a pain because you don't normally need to check oil levels in a car.I love my car.
You don't have to check engine oil levels in today's vehicles, where did you see that?If you want to take care of your vehicle, you need to check the fluid levels on a daily basis.If you are on a trip.That is common sense.My wife told me that common sense is dead.

It was awful.I bought a 2016 Malibu in February of last year and had my 3rd check engine light today.Engine power was reduced.I'm livid.The couples months into owning it was the first code.The second one happened in February of this year.The code is P06DE.I'm going to auto-zone for them to pull the code for free.I had another issue along with the check engine lights issue.I was told to shift the gear to Park when I shift to park.The codes were U1510 and U1502.Got that fixed as well.I will look at the third check engine light issue.I don't think it's an oil change issue, but I will update after tomorrow.I don't know what to do.My faith in American made vehicles has taken a hit, but I can't return the vehicle.

There is an update.The third check engine light had the same code.The second engine light was fixed with the same code.I had an issue with my engine oil.After every fuel fill, I need to check the level.I'm going to do it every 200 to 500 miles since I never let my fuel go below 1/2 gauge.The issue was solved when they filled it up for me.You are correct to check the oil levels once in a while.The guy told me to do that.After 1K miles, I'm due for a schedule maintenance.Check your engine oil levels and learn how to fill it up.The manual tells you which type of oil to get.It's a good idea to perform other maintenance on your Malibu.Other modern cars don't need as much attention.
We received a letter in the mail about the problem.There is a condition that affects the electrical connection to one of the vehicles.The vehicle will enter a reduced engine power mode if the connection is interrupted.
This is terrible.I own a new Malibu that has 40,000 km.The'shift to park' thing happens on and off, with no rhyme or reason, and I had the engine light today.The oil has been changed 2 weeks ago.I want to keep this car, but I can't afford to get rid of it.Is it possible for GM to fix this thing?!
They have to fix it for free if you take it to a dealership.
I took my car to the dealership and they repaired it under the warranty.No more engine losing power.It has nothing to do with engine oil.My oil is changed a lot.It's a gas peddle.The'shift to park' problem was fixed and didn't cost me a cent.There is a notification from GM.Not every Malubu has the problem, so it's not a recall.

I bought a 2003 Malibu with the same problem.After the vehicle reached its operating temperature and had been run on the highway, the issue resurfaced because of the bad Catalytic converter and the oxygen sensors that were replaced.It was only after the vehicle had come to a stop and tried to accelerate again that it occurred.I noticed that other people with the same issue replaced the EGR valve with no positive effect.I think that the exhaust gas recirculation valve fails to close correctly and causes emission problems, eventually ruining the Catalytic converter.Replacing both will resolve the problem, but it remains to be seen.The issue is an engineering problem and the obvious emission related issue in not setting a MIL code.
