China cabinet display stands, how to install a plate rail on shelves, and ways to stand up plates in a china cabinet are all on Amazon.
I started collecting china about eight years ago.Dad cooked us a chicken roast when he came to stay.I had no gravy-boat for the homemade gravy and we had to make do with a plastic measuring jug.Do I need a boat? What harm could a pretty gravy boat do?I found a lovely gravy boat on eBay and began my collection.
I have a couple of full china-cabinets in the kitchen because I don't like looking at them.I would like to show you how to install a plate rail on a shelf.A plate rail is great for displaying plates or other items that are upright. You can see the pattern, and it creates lovely visual interest. Some cabinets have grooves on the back of the shelf.
Measure the length of the shelf and cut the wood beading to fit.I shortened my beading by an inch. The beading needs to be painted to match the shelf.
2.The shelf should be removed if possible. To rule a line, parallel to the back edge, measure 50mm.Make sure your line is straight. To allow for larger plates, you can vary the depth of your plate rack.
Using the line as a guide, glue the beading to the shelf.Remove the excess glue with a damp cloth or paper towel. To dry, leave overnight.
I could not remove the bottom shelf.I used full tin cans to weigh down the beading as it dried.
The glue held the beading in place.Just in case the glue doesn't hold and all your pretty plates end up smashed in the floor, you may want to use some pin-nails to secure the beading.
The fun part is arranging your collection.I love the look and feel of the plate rail, I took the time to add it.All my pretty things are on display. It makes my kitchen brighter and reminds me to use them for special occasions.
