There is a lot of dirt and dust in your car as you travel from one place to another. From time to time, your car's tail lights need to be cleaned. If you want to clean your tail lights, you can either wet sand them or use a plastic cleaner.
Step 1: Cut out the paper.
If you want the piece of sandpaper to fit in your hand, you should cut it down.Cut a piece that's big enough to cover a lot of area but small enough for you to easily handle, because you'll be sanding your tail light by hand. There is a 2000 grit of sandpaper.
Step 2: Put the sandpaper in the water.
Once you have the size you need, dip it in the water. You might need to dip it more than once as you work on your tail light because it won't hold a lot of water.
Step 3: The tail light was wet.
You want to get some water on the tail light before you start sanding.Even if the sandpaper loses some of its water, this prevents your tail light from getting scratched.
Step 4: The tail light should be gently sanded.
The tail light has a surface that you can run your sandpaper over. The tail light can be scratched by applying too much pressure to the sandpaper.Run the sandpaper across the surface and let it do the work.
Step 5: The tail light has a plastic polish on it.
You need to apply a plastic polish after you sanded your tail lights. The tail light should be applied with two dollops. When you buff the tail light, it will spread out. Some plastic polishes are specifically made for auto plastic.Turtle Wax is a good brand for this.
Step 6: The tail light should be rubbed.
To buff out scratches, use a buffer pad to polish the tail light. This will remove the scratches caused by the sandpaper and the deeper scratches that it couldn't get out.
Step 7: The tail light needs to be wiped down.
After buffing the tail light, wipe it down with a clean cloth. This will give your tail lights a nice shine.
Step 8: The tail lights need to be removed.
Before applying toothpaste to your tail lights, you should wash them.Dirt can get stuck in the toothpaste if you don't wash your tail lights.
Step 9: Put toothpaste over the tail light.
You should brush your teeth twice as much as you would for a tail light. As you rub the toothpaste in, it won't have to be spread evenly. If you use a towel instead of a buffer, apply toothpaste to a small area of your tail light at a time. You will end up with dried-on toothpaste if you put too much on the tail light.
Step 10: The toothpaste needs to be rubbed in.
Rub the toothpaste in to the tail light with a towel or buffer pad. This will take a bit longer if you are using a towel. The toothpaste should be rubbed in until it disappears.
Step 11: The tail lights need to be wiped off.
The tail lights should be wiped down with a clean rag after you rubbed the toothpaste in.If you missed any spots and need to go over them again, this will show you.
Step 12: You can choose a combination protectant, cleaner, and polisher.
You can choose a combination product if you don't want to buff in a cleaner.Armor All and Chemical Guys are popular brands of this type of cleaner.
Step 13: Put the spray on the cleaner.
The spray will be thicker so it won't run off so fast. Most of it will stay on the lights if you spray enough.
Step 14: Allow it to sit for a while.
Let the cleaner sit on the light for five to ten minutes after spraying it.This will give the spray a chance to work on the dirt on your lights.
Step 15: The tail lights need to be wiped off.
If you let the spray cleaner sit on your tail lights, wipe it off with a clean rag.The tail lights should be clean and shine free.If your tail lights are dirty, you might have to do this again.
