Cocaethylene is an overview of factors that extend cocaines detectability in urine.
There is an interaction between alcohol and cocaine. The effects of cocaethylene are similar to those of cocaine. There is no information about the drug's effectiveness in comparison to cocaine in humans.Six men who were moderate users of cocaine were injected with water-soluble fumarate salt of cocaethylene or an equivalent dose in a single-blind study. Each dose was injected with normal saline. The sessions were separated by a week. The variables were measured for cocaine and cocaethylene. In comparison to cocaine, cocaethylene had a smaller elimination rate constant (0.42 versus 0.67 l/h), a longer elimination half-life (1.68 versus 1.07 h), and a higher heart rate. The concentrations of cocaine and cocaethylene were statistically indistinguishable during the period. The conclusion that cocaethylene is less potent than cocaine is supported by this finding.
