Coffee Pots, Percolators, and Revere Ware are listed on eBay.
The Revere Ware line was introduced in 1939 by the Revere Brass & Copper Corp. The cookware line focuses on consumer cookware such as skillets, sauce pans, stock pots, and tea kettles.During the 1930s, Revere Ware was the culmination of various innovative techniques developed, the most popular being the construction ofStainless steel with rivetlessly attached bakelite handles, copper-clad bases and rounded interiors for ease of cleaning.Over the next 40 years, Revere Ware would introduce new series to position itself in competition with other manufacturers at various price points. The profitability of Revere Ware began to decline in the early 1960s.Cost-cutting measures were implemented in the manufacture of the traditional cookware. The bakelite handles were changed from two pieces to one.[3]
The seventies saw a shift of fortune for the parent company of the cookware division. The beginning of the end was marked by the transfer of aluminum production from domestic to overseas manufacturing.By 1982 financial issues due to these failing aluminum operations forced Revere Brass & Copper to file for bankruptcy.By 1985 the cookware subsidiary had been sold. When they acquired Revere Ware, they expanded it from four lines to over a dozen and stopped domestic manufacturing. The controlling parent company was World Kitchen.Nearly a dozen new "lines" were introduced by 2006 before Revere Ware left the market.World Kitchen currently offers several variations of Revere Ware, including copper-cored stainless steel, traditional copperclad bottomed cookware and anodized non-stick aluminum.
Several lines have been introduced by Revere Ware. The 1400 line features the classic curved, smooth bakelite handles and copper bottoms. The Revere Wares economy line was briefly marketed directly by mail order through J.C. Penney, with an exclusive Made Expressly for Penney's trademark. The economy series Copper Maid was introduced in 1957.The Designers' Group series was introduced in 1959 to reestablish Revere Ware as the premiere consumer cookware. The Designer's Group products were introduced in 1969.The 6000 Line Designers' Group pieces are said to be the finest cookware manufactured by Revere Ware, but the 6500 Line Designer's Group sold poorly.[6]
The heavy duty Institutional line was introduced to expand the Revere Ware brand. In an attempt to cash in on the barbecue craze of the 1950s, a selection of this series was reintroduced as Patio Ware. The handles of the 1800 line were designed for larger hands.TheGalaxy line was one of the aluminum products introduced. The construction of the line was made of steel and aluminum. The 500 line of cookware was marketed as toys for children, but were manufactured to the same standards as consumer cookware. The mini sets have become very collectible.
The Revere Ware brand had at one point in time in development four series. The 1400 series continued to sell well.Heavy aluminum bottoms were used for good heat transfer in the new 2000 line of ceramic- and glass-top stoves. The ONXY line and the Micro-Fryer line were discontinued almost immediately as they were perceived to be in direct competition with existing products from subsidiaries of Corning.
The Proline, a heavy gauge STAINLESS steel product, was the first series to be developed and introduced after the acquisition.Changes across all their lines would undermine consumer confidence. The 1400 series was reintroduced with minor changes and now sold with glass lids taken from other product lines. The aluminum non-stick pans were imported from Thailand.Four years after the Vista Line hit store shelves, the Centura series was reintroduced. The Centura series was only available from Wal-Mart.The other series were similar to other lines from the same company.
In 1998 Revere Ware was reorganized under the World Kitchen inc banner.Three lines in particular that were significant as reintroductions, despite being produced overseas and using less expensive materials, emerged after this restructure. The Copper Select series was based on the Paul Revere Ware line of 1967, and the Copper Clad series of 2003 was a re-enactment of the 1400 line.[7]
The 1400 line is manufactured with all of Revere Ware's features, including copper-clad bases, rounded corners, bakelite handles, and Vapor Seal lids. The handles for early pans and skillets were held together by screws and rivets. There are two screws near the pan side of the handle. There was a screw at either end of the handle. The bakelite was made from one piece and pressed onto the metal handle.
skillets are always of a larger diameter with a shallow depth and a single long handle.Sauce pans have a single long handle. There are two smaller handles for grasping at each side of a stock pot.Dutch ovens have a flared edge at the top of the pot with a narrow seat for their larger, more pronounced domed lid to seal. The domed lids used for Dutch Ovens and square Skillets are different in shape than the traditional bell-lipped steel lids. The walls of the Domed lids are taller than the standard ones.[8]
There are three variations of Revere Ware double boilers. There is an insert, which nestles into the pan, supported by a lip and two small "ears", or flairs at the mouth of the insert. While in use, this variety is almost entirely within the heating utensil.A ribbed design with a single handle is similar to a Sauce Pan in construction.A small portion of the boiler rests within the heating utensil to create a seal. The ribbed last variety has two small handles on either side to make it easier to use.
The 1400 series is an important part of American kitchens.5 and a half million pieces were shipped a year at the height of 1400's popularity. It was the "gold standard" of American cookware, offering 39 items simultaneously across 12 different utensil types. The 1400 series had a consistency before it was sold to Corning Glass in 1985.Below is a list of the most famous pieces.
There are notes on specialty items.A Skillet's flared walls can be identified by its straight walled construction, which will be stamped "1 qt."The pieces were on post-1968.
Egg Poaching inserts and cups are placed into Skillets. The handles of the cups are designed with a lock on handle and accept most household forks for lifting.
