Most of the time bacon is cooked in a skillet.Did you know that you can deep fry bacon?Unlike other cooking methods that can cause bacon to be unevenly cooked, deep frying ensures that the bacon is heated to a crisp, perfect finish. If you want a fresh-from-the-fair treat, you can coat the bacon in a flour batter first. If you want to fix a lot of bacon at once, deep frying is a great way to do it.In about five minutes you'll have a delicious snack or side that even the pickiest eater won't be able to refuse.
Step 1: Put oil in a fryer or deep pan.
Pick a pan that's large enough to submerge the bacon in, or turn on your deep fryer.Put about 2 cups of vegetable or canola oil in the pan or fryer. The cooking surface should be covered with some oil.It is not a requirement to use a deep fryer with a built-in basket. To ensure that the bacon has the right consistency, the oil you use should be a liquid at room temperature, not a semisolid like coconut oil or shortening.
Step 2: Make sure the oil is hot.
If you want to heat the oil, turn on the fryer or stove.Don't stand too close to the oil at this time because it will be bubbling and popping. It is possible to prevent oil burns by wearing gloves or an oven mitt.
Step 3: The bacon should be added.
Carefully lower the strips of bacon into the fryer.Use a fry basket, fork, or tongs to keep your hands away from the hot oil. There will be no need to make multiple batches if you add as many pieces as you can comfortably fit in the fryer. If you're using a smaller pan or fryer, you should cut the bacon in half.
Step 4: It takes about 5 minutes to cook.
As it cooks, the bacon will catch fire. It's important to keep an eye on the clock and bacon to make sure it doesn't get done.If you remove the bacon from the fryer, the oil will continue to cook it, so you'll want to take it out before it starts turning brown. It's not certain when it will take to fry the bacon. It's up to you to use your best judgement. The thicker the bacon, the slower it will cook.
Step 5: Let the bacon cool.
Use tongs to get the bacon out of the oil. When they're cool enough to eat, put the excess oil on a layer of paper towels. You now have a mound of bacon that's perfectly cooked and ready to eat.If you don't like bacon, you can use a paper towel.Thick-cut bacon will have a chewier, meatier texture when deep fried than thinner slices.
Step 6: Prepare bacon.
Before bacon can be battered and deep fried, it needs to be heated through to make sure it doesn't come out undercooked. If you want your bacon to fit in the fryer, lay them out on a pan, plate or baking dish.Allow the bacon to cool before cooking, pan fry or microwave it.Since it will be less brittle, thick-cut bacon is the best choice for battering. If you want your bacon to be cooked a second time, try to get it less done.
Step 7: A simple batter can be used.
In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 eggs, 2 cups of whole milk and 3 cups all-purpose flour. When they form a thick batter, whisk the ingredients together. To make it taste better, add salt, pepper, and other spices. The batter should be refrigerated for 20 minutes to help it set up.Salt, garlic salt, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and paprika are seasonings that can be added to fry batter. The bacon will be protected from over cooking if the batter is cold.
Step 8: The bacon needs to be coat thoroughly.
After the batter has cooled, take it out of the fridge and cook bacon. If you want to make sure the bacon is coated on both sides, dip it into the batter with a pair of tongs. The bacon is ready to be fried. After the batter is out of the fridge, stir it up.Add an extra splash of milk if it looks too thick. If you're using thin-sliced bacon, batter the strips by hand so they don't break.
Step 9: The bacon should be put in the fryer.
Allow the bacon to start frying by placing it in the hot oil.The size of your pan or fryer will affect the number of strips you can cook.If you put in too many pieces at once, they could stick together or cause the batter to fall off. When you put bacon in the deep fryer, be careful.A small splatter could be very painful.
Step 10: 2 minutes on each side.
Give the bacon time to start sizzling. The slices need to be turned after a couple minutes since the batter will cause the bacon to float on top of the oil.The bacon will be perfect once the batter starts to turn golden brown. This method uses the batter color rather than the bacon to determine when it's done.Remove the bacon from the fryer. After you take the batter out, the oil will cook it for another minute or two.
Step 11: Remove the fryer and serve.
You can grab the bacon slices with your tongs.Place them on a folded paper towel and let them cool off. When you've cooked all the bacon you want, repeat the deep frying process. You might find yourself addicted to the finished product.Don't wait until you get home to eat the deep fried bacon because it's still hot and fresh.Deep fried bacon is high in fat and salt and should only be enjoyed occasionally.
Step 12: Finished.
