Directv picture comes in out of focus, blurry, and not in high definition.

The background-color is important.

I bought a new tv about a month ago and now I have a lot of picture problems when I watch Directv. My tv and receiver are made by the same company. There are problems with the picture when watching live sports in 720p.The camera goes in and out of focus when it zooms in on the players. One second it will look great, the next it won't.The players jersey is white. There was a show that had a lot of grain on peoples faces and lines.

The tv I hooked up to this receiver was a high definition tv from 2011.My tv is perfect for watching directv.I called to make sure the problem wasn't the tv.I changed the HDMI slots, bought a new cable, reset the receiver, reconnected the coax cables, and made sure only the highest resolution was checked in the menu. While watching tv, I made sure the blue light on the receiver was on.I attached a c41-100 mini to the 4k tv that came with this one because I wanted to use it as a projector.Since the screen is smaller and the quality is lower, it's hard to see the picture on tv.I tried to watch a standard def DVD on an old def dvd player on my tv and it looked amazing in 4k!The HD on directv is not good.

Is this a compatibility issue with newer tvs?In July and September of 2015, my 4k TVs were released. Both theLED and theOLED have HDMI ports. They were stumped when I worked with tech support from directv.A tech is coming over.I am worried that this issue will not be fixed as I have read that other people have the same problem with the boxes. If directv can't fix the picture problem with the genie, I will have to switch services.

There are a lot of video enhancement features in modern HDTVs that can cause issues. You can find them under "Refresh Rate" or "Motion Enhancement" in your TV's video settings.I think one or more of those settings is causing the artifacts you're seeing because sports broadcasts tend to make these issues worse.During live sports broadcasts, some channels have their own motion artifacts. You can check out the relevant forum for your TV at http://www.avsforum.com and see if other people have help with it.

Directv is the only source that I see problems with.Everything else I've watched so far has been perfect. There are no problems with games, DVD, and streaming.I like to stream a lot.I did not have any problems with the picture.

When the source is 720p, the PQ is very variable. You may be able to blame the source provider.ABC/ESPN is not always good.

This is the only reason I decided to return my 65" screen.I noticed the same thing when I was trying to calibrate my tv.The picture quality on Directv was horrible when I first started watching it, even though it looked amazing on a 4k TV.This was a deal breaker for me because I watch most of Directv.I decided to keep my 5-year-old Panasonic Plasma because it has a flawless picture on every source.I hope Directv resolves this issue with an equipment upgrade in the near future.

This is happening with my TV as well. It's almost looks standard def when you zoom in on a player. It wasn't as bad with Comcast.
