Distribution bars are not provided in a two-way slab.
There may be two sizes of bars used in the slab when we look at reinforcement detailing.
The main reinforcement bar is what we know. There is more than just the name.Window.adsbygoogle is a window.
As shown in the pic, the load act will be high at the centre of the slab.
Place your fingers at the top of the pad. There is a raise at the top of the support as shown in the above picture.
The supports and the bottom of the pad experience a hogging and sagging moment. The top and bottom of the slab are feeling high tension at the same time.
You can see it in the shorter span and the longer span.High tension is experienced by the support which is very close to the far one.
The bending moment developed at the bottom of the slab needs to be transferred to the shorter span direction by the Main reinforcement bar.The main bar is used to transfer the bending load from the bottom of the slab to the beams.
The slab is supported by two parallel sides where the main reinforcement will be placed.
The span will be supported at four ends in two way slabs. There will be no difference in bar size. Each side will have to transfer the same amount of stress.
Distribution bars are used to resist the shear stress.
