If you are tired of drawing and painting, try out the exciting process of creating art with gunpowder and fire.A variety of burn styles can be created using various materials.Use brushes or spread gunpowder at random to make abstract art.The fun part begins after you get the gunpowder where you want it.You can light the powder and watch it burn.
Step 1: Medium to fine grain gunpowder can be purchased.
You can buy gunpowder online or at a local gun shop.It is easier to arrange small grain powder on the artwork surface.Without creating a large fire, small grain powder creates the effect.Coarse grain powder is not a brand that you need to buy, just avoid it as a beginner.
Step 2: The gunpowder should be put into a squeeze bottle.
If you want to put condiments in a plastic bottle, look in the grocery store.It should have a nozzle that lets a small amount of the contents flow out.It works best for beginners.The gunpowder can be spread on the artwork surface.It makes the process simpler.
Step 3: The base of the artwork should be paper, canvas or wood.
You can use paper, wood or canvas.If the weather permits, you can work outside on a fire-resistant surface.If you have to work indoors, do it in a garage or shop with a concrete floor.It is best not to do this in a place that is a fire hazard.You won't be able to keep gunpowder in shape on the artwork surface if it is windy or rainy.
Step 4: The gunpowder should be put on the base.
The gunpowder can be drawn with the squirt bottle.A picture of something specific or a series of patterns can be made.Depending on what you want to create, be as detailed as possible.If the opening of the bottle is too small, widen it.If you don't use a bottle with a nozzle, pour gunpowder out of its container or scoop out some from a spoon and spread it around.
Step 5: The gunpowder can be moved using a sponge brush or paintbrush.
If you want to draw something more detailed, use paint tools.You can push the grains around with a sponge brush.Even if you don't want to make a picture, brushes give you more control over gunpowder than sprinkling it.
Step 6: You can make designs with rocks, boards, or pieces of metal.
When you light gunpowder, place objects on top of it to make it explode.The fire burns the outline of objects if objects are placed around gunpowder.Use rocks and wood to create designs.The gunpowder should be spread across the whole canvas.To change how it burns, place a dozen stones around the canvas on top of the powder.To burn the wrench shapes into the canvas, spread gunpowder and set a few wrenches on top of it.Adding an object that won't catch fire is a fair game.Try to find what makes the designs cool.
Step 7: Gloves and safety glasses are required when you light gunpowder.
Since gunpowder is dangerous, be sure to wear gloves made of fabric.If something sparks, wear a pair of safety glasses to protect your eyes.
Step 8: You have time to move back, so use a fuse.
If you're worried about gunpowder catching fire too quickly, place a fuse at the edge of the artwork.You can use a foot or two of 2.5mm.It should be laid so that it touches the gunpowder and extends off of the base.It is okay to light gunpowder directly, but you may not be comfortable doing it.When it burns the artwork, a fuse adds a neat effect.
Step 9: The gunpowder can be lit near an edge or corner of the artwork.
Light the end that extends off of the artwork if you use a fuse.Light gunpowder at a corner or edge of the design if you choose to do so.This is the best way for the fire to spread.
Step 10: Stand at a distance.
Step back at least three feet from the artwork as soon as you light the gunpowder.If gunpowder pops, you don't want to be near it.You don't want to breathe the smoke directly into your nose and mouth.
Step 11: In case of fire, have a fire extinguisher or water on hand.
It is still fire and requires precautions even though it is a controlled setting.If you feel that the artwork is getting out of hand, act immediately.
Step 12: After the fire is out, remove the debris from the artwork.
When gunpowder is burned up, it will leave particles.Use a vacuum wand or shake the excess into the trash to get rid of it.Leave it as part of the artwork if you like the way it looks.
