I am installing a new kitchen faucet and I don't know what to do.
I've found that the gaskets provided with the faucets don't always seal as well as they should.
I haven't seen this done in a long time and it was done decades ago.A piece of rubber or plastic is usually what comes with the faucets. You can always apply caulk around the base if you don't like it.
Plumbing putty is not used on the faucets or the drain hole anymore. The rubber gasgets are used to seal the drain and sink. The gaskets work well, I have done many of them.
