During times of indecision, Salat-al-Istikhara is a prayer. If you have to perform Wudu, you should first be cleansed.Offer your Istikhara supplication after you open your prayer and recite two rak'ah.Rather than waiting for a symbolic vision, you should look for answers and seek advice from knowledgeable people.Don't beg or plead, and be ready to follow through on the answers you get.
Step 1: Ablution or Wudu should be done.
Wudu should be performed before you start prayer. You should center your thoughts, then wash and rinse your hands, mouth, face, nose, and lower forearms. When you wash your head and ears, start with the right foot. You can point your right index finger to the sky and say a prayer of witness."I bear witness to the fact that there is no deity other than Allah alone, He is One, and he has no partner," the English translation says. When semen is emitted, or after intercourse, you may need to perform Ghusl.
Step 2: Take care of your space for prayer.
Make sure your space is clean and suitable for prayer.Place a mat on the floor. The mat should be positioned so that it faces the Qibla or Mecca.
Step 3: You can open your prayers.
You should start by centering yourself on your intentions. To open your prayers, raise your hands to your ears and say, "Allah Akbar."Then recite the opening prayer, followed by the Ta'awwuz and Tasmiah."Glory be to you, Subhana Kal-lah hum-ma wabi hamdika wata-baara kasmuka wat a'ala jad-duka wala ilaha ghyruk."In the name of Allah, the most Kind and the Merciful, you should recite Tasmiah before each chapter of the Quran.
Step 4: The fatiha should be recited.
Before offering the Salat-al-Istikhara, you should start with the Surah Fatiha. The first thing you should do is say, "Bismillah hir-Rahma nir- Raheem." The fatiha is written in the rak'ah.The transliteration is:Alhamdul lil-lahi rab-bil.Ameen."Praise is only for Allah, Lord of the Universe. The most Kind, the most Merciful."
Step 5: The Surah al-Kafirun should be recited.
Continue your two rak'ah recitations with the chapter of the Quran called the Surah al-Kafirun.The first thing to do is say, "Bismillah hir-Rahma nir- Raheem." The second thing is to say "Qul yaa-ai Yuhal kaafiroonLaa a'budu ma t'abudo.""Say : O ye that reject Faith, I worship not that which ye worship, nor will you worship those whom you have worshipped."
Step 6: The Surah al-Ikhlas should be recited.
Say the fatiha again and then recite the al-Ikhlas.The first thing to do is to start with Tasmiah.
Step 7: Make the Istikhara supplication.
You are ready to recite the Istikhara supplication after offering two rak'ah.There is a Salat-al-Istikhara transliteration.Fa innaka taqdiru.Wa ta'lamu wa anta allaamul ghuyoob.Allahumma in kunta ta'lamu anna haadhal-amr khayrun liy fiy deeniy wa-ma'aashiy.Wa in-kunta ta'lamu anna haadhal amr.Fa asrifhu 'annee wa-srifni 'anhu.Wa aqdur lial haythu kaana thumma a-rdhiniy bihee. The English translation is:O Allah!I ask you the good through your knowledge, ability and power, and beg you out of your infinite Bounty. You have power, and I have nothing.I know not.Allah, you are the Great Knower of all things. If you know that this matter is good for my faith, my livelihood, and for the consequences of my affairs, then you should ordain it for me.If in Your Knowledge, this matter is bad for my faith, my livelihood, and for the consequences of my affairs, then turn it away from me and ordain for me the good wherever it is.Mention the affair for which you seek guidance when "haadhal amr" appears.
Step 8: You can repeat the prayer as many times as you want.
You can either repeat the Istikhara supplication or recite as many rak'ah as you want.Continue to pray with Istikhara until you find a solution. If you feel like you have been given an answer, stop performing it for seven days.
Step 9: When you need to make a decision, please pray.
If you have to make a non-obligatory decision, you should perform Istikhara.Whenever you are unsure about a decision, it is a powerful prayer of guidance.Selecting a university or graduate school is an example.Should I take a job offer?A spouse.
Step 10: Istikhara can be performed after Salat al-Lail.
Before asking for guidance, it is best to recite two rak'ah.Istikhara can be used after Salat al-Lail or after the morning prayer.Salat al-Lail is a voluntary late night prayer. It doesn't have a mandated number of rak'ah, but you must perform it after Isha, or night prayer.
Step 11: When praying for guidance, seek advice from knowledgeable people.
You should seek advice from people you think are knowledgeable when you recite Salat-al-Istikhara.Don't think that your answers will come to you in dreams or visions.Suppose you are making a decision about a new job.You should talk to a knowledgeable elder. Will you help me understand how this new job will affect my life and faith?Do you think this is a good decision?
Step 12: Pray earnestly.
If you are asking for guidance and need help when you center yourself on prayer, you should say so in your heart and mind. You should be willing to receive and take action. If it is not the one you want to hear, you should be willing to get an answer and follow through.
Step 13: Say the prayer with conviction instead of begging.
Asking for guidance with firm convictions is your intention.Don't plead or beg.Asking for something you desire to come true is more important than asking for guidance.
Step 14: Don't be impatient after the prayer.
Allah should not be put on a timetable.Don't show haste and be patient. When praying Istikhara, remember not to expect miracles or symbolic visions, but to be open to answers in the form of advice and subtle signs.
