Do Liesel and Max get married after The Book Thief?

Zusak has stated that the events of the book do not imply that Liesel is marrying Max.When everyone else is dead, Liesel and Max maintain a special connection their whole life.

What happens to Max at the end of the novel?At the end of the novel, we learn that she and Max are back together.We don't know what happens after that.Death gives Liesel her book, The Book Thief, when he takes her away.

I don't think Max and Liesel stay together in the way some people think, but I'm more than happy for readers to believe they do.
