Dogster asked if it was safe to apply K9 Advantix twice in one month.
My dog is on flea/tick meds. For 6 years.I applied Advantix on the 1st of the month and he was itching so bad I found a flea on him. After reading your review on using Hartz, I ran to Walmart and gave him a flea dip bath.I want to know if applying Advantix twice in a month is harmful.
Is it necessary for him to be dipped/bathed at the vet in order to fight off the fleas?I am exhausted after cleaning the house.I am sure other pet owners have wondered if they should apply the flea/tick treatment again.
K9 Advantix should not be applied more than once a month. In a moment, more on that.I think it's based on personal experience.
20 years ago there was no good flea preventative.Pet owners could either use primitive pesticides that had low safety margins or live with fleas. Then came Advantage and Frontline.
Everything was changed by Advantage and Frontline. They were completely new products that were toxic to fleas. They were non-toxic to mammals. They were safe because they worked.
The manufacturer of Advantage had a problem. The Frontline prevented tick infections. The advantage did not.K9 Advantix was the solution from Bayer.
The K9 should alert you.K9 Advantix cannot be used on cats.Advantage with permethrin is what K9 Advantix is.Permethrin is an old school pesticide with a poor safety margin.I don't think it's a good idea to apply it twice in a month. If you're worried about ticks, I think Frontline is a better product.
I think K9 Advantix is effective.Something is out of whack if you have applied it correctly and your dog has fleas. There are reports of fake products at pet stores and on the internet. It might not be effective if you didn't purchase your product from a reliable source. It is not likely that resistance to K9 Advantix will be verified. The number one cause of failure is improper use of the product.
High quality flea preventatives are more effective than flea bombs.Flea pupae can survive a nuclear blast.Don't waste your time with them.I recommend that you use a high quality flea product that is compatible with Advantage and K9 Advantix. If you use Comfortis or Capstar, you won't have to deal with a messy spot on your dog.Discuss this with your vet.
You should be aware that if fleas are present in the environment you may occasionally see a flea on your pet even if you are using an effective product. There is no flea product that will kill the pests instantly.

My Yorkie is 4 years old and uses Bayer Advantage Multi every month.I have never had fleas. My yard has always been treated. In the last four months, my Max has had two fleas.I had the pest control come out to spray the house and yard multiple times.Should I try something new if the Flea med isn't working?Advantage Multi is purchased from my vet.
My dog doesn't play with other dogs or animals.I don't like bugs or fleas.
I usually put advantage tick on the 25th of every month, but today is the first of next month and I am unsure if I will give it or not.?
I put Advantx on the dogs. One tube is on the other.Didn't work. Can I put a tube on each dog?Since the first time I messed up, it has been a week or two.My dogs are german shepherd and labador.
It doesn't work like it used to.They don't really do anymore.Treatment of our lawn is the best thing we can do.
Is it possible that counterfeit Frontline is being made? Can I apply Frontline twice in a month?I was wondering if it was safe to apply Frontline again because my dog has fleas.
