Three people were accused of forcing their way into a room at the Driftwood Inn in Port Arthur.

The three beat and stabbed the 73-year-old Kansas man who was staying in the room, stole numerous collector coins from him and used his debit card to withdraw money from an ATM, according to court documents.

Police said at the time that the suspects knocked on the man's door at about 7 a.m., barged in, and began beating and stabbing him.They demanded money as well.

Two of the suspects went to an ATM at a gas station to get cash after they stole the man's credit card.

At least one suspect remained at the hotel with the victim and tortured him until he gave the robbers the correct PIN number.

Three people were arrested by police on the same day.They still had the man's things, along with his truck, which they stole.

According to this news article, all three suspects were sentenced to long prison terms after a trial in 2011.

Keyron and Jeremy were both sentenced to at least 50 years in prison.They will be eligible for parole in 25 and 30 years.

The Drug Impact Court will hold a trial for Donna Goudeau on December 5.

A fourth person, who is not a suspect in the robbery, is charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

The maximum sentence was given under the plea bargain, according to the Jefferson County Assistant District Attorney.

The victim was staying at the Driftwood Inn on Memorial Boulevard while working in Port Arthur as a pipefitter.

Police believe the incident began when one of the suspects stole a car from Houston and drove it to Port Arthur.The group went to the motel and knocked on the doors.The suspects entered the victim?s room after he answered the knock.

The victim's truck was stolen after he was beaten and stabbed inside the room.Police believe the group split off with some of the suspects staying in the motel room with the victim while others tried to withdraw money.

Chase said that during the robbery, Sustiata was sprayed with the fire extinguisher and struck with a tire tool.The suspects put a pillowcase over the victim?s head.

As a result of his injuries, Sustiata is no longer able to work as a pipefitter.

On July 20, 2011, Goudeau was sentenced to 18 years in Texas.She is locked up in Gatesville, Texas, and has about 15 years left to serve.She is also looking for penpals.
