Playing with Play-Doh is a great activity for kids of all ages and can be done alone or at a party. It is impossible to mold and play with Play-Doh that is left out when clean-up time does not happen. It is possible to revive dried out Play-Doh to make it moist, soft, and doughy for the next time the kids play.
Step 1: Put your dried up Play-Doh in a bowl.
Play-Doh dyes can mix and form a brownish color if you keep the same colors together.Play-Doh is mostly made of flour, water, and salt, so adding life back to the hardened dough can be as simple as adding back the water that has evaporated. It is not possible to revive a Play-Doh that has been out for more than a couple months.
Step 2: The Play-Doh needs to be sprinkled with some water.
You can work the water into the dough by massaging the wet ball in your hands.Continue massaging the ball with water.
Step 3: Take the ball and make some dough.
Once the dough has absorbed a sufficient amount of water and has become moist and malleable again, knead it on a countertop for a few minutes, until it has returned to its original form.As you are kneading, sprinkle it with more water. The Play-Doh can be moistened by kneading half of the glycerine into it.
Step 4: Store the Play-Doh properly.
Store Play-Doh in an air-tight container because it will dry out when exposed to air.Wrap it in a re-sealable plastic bag.
Step 5: Flatten the toy.
You can increase the absorption area by flattening the dough ball.Don't make it too large because you'll be putting it in a steamer.
Step 6: Make sure your stove-top or steamer is ready.
The Play-Doh should be placed in the steamer for five to ten minutes.
Step 7: The dough needs to be removed from the steamer.
You can make a dough for five to ten minutes.Continue steaming and kneading if the Play-Doh hasn't returned to its original consistency.
Step 8: The Play-Doh can be broken into small bits.
It will be easier to rehydrate the smaller pieces.Put the pieces into a strainer and run water over them to coat them.Allow the excess water to drain off.
Step 9: The pieces should be put in a re-sealable plastic bag.
Make sure the Play-Doh pieces are not wet and put them in a bag.For about an hour, let the dough pieces rest.
Step 10: Take the pieces out of the bag.
Once the dough has had time to rest and absorb the water, put the pieces in a bowl and press them back into a single ball of dough.Return the ball to the bag with a wet cloth or paper towel.Leave it overnight.
Step 11: Place the dough in a bowl.
In the morning, remove the rehydrated Play-Doh from the bag and knead it for a couple minutes to form it back into a soft, doughy ball.
Step 12: Pick out your ingredients.
It is so easy to make your own Play-Doh, even the kids can help, because it is a fun and inexpensive way to replace it.To make playdough, you'll need: 2 cups of water, 1 cup of salt, and 5 ounces of cream of tartar.
Step 13: A saucepot has ingredients in it.
Cook over low heat.Continue cooking until you get a ball of dough in the center of the pan.It will be ready when it has the consistency of regular playdough.
Step 14: Remove the heat.
Set the dough aside and let it cool if it's too warm to handle.Decide how to divide your dough and what colors you want to make.
Step 15: For coloring, divide the dough.
Depending on how many different colors of playdough you want to make, form as many smaller balls as you need.
Step 16: Individual batches of dough can be made by kneading the different colors.
On a cutting board or non-porous counter, knead each ball of dough and work in a single color at a time.Food coloring can be added until the desired intensity is achieved. For every playdough color you want to make, repeat.
Step 17: Store like a toy store.
If playdough is not in use, keep it in an air-tight container. It will become impossible to use if you don't do this.
