Errol Spence Jr. is an American professional boxer.He has held two world titles, the IBF and theWBC, in the last two years.He represented the U.S. at the 2012 Olympics after winning three consecutive United States national titles as an amateur.In 2015, he was named a prospect of the year.[4]

On November 9, 2012 at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California, a 22 year old man named spence made his professional debut against a 19-year old named Jonathan garcia.There was a knockout in the 3rd round.The Sports Arena in Los Angeles, California was part of the undercard for the fight between Amir Khan and Carlos Molina.[17]

On 16 May 2016 he denied that his team turned down a fight against brook.According to Spence, the IBF ordered him to fight Ponomarev in order to become the mandatory challenger.Although there were no agreements to fight, on June 9, Ponomarev injured his hand, forcing him out of the eliminator.It was confirmed that Leonard Bundu would fight Errol Spence Jr. in the eliminator on August 21 at the Ford Amphitheater.The fight would be shown on NBC.41 and 42 were the days.

On the night of the fight, in front of 12,107 fans, Errol Spence broke down and mentally forced Barry Hunter to stop the bout in the 8th round.The man was dropped in round 5 by a left hand.The man survived the round, and beat the count.After taking a lot of punishment, he was able to fire back with some of his own.His eyes were puffy from the hard shots and his face looked swollen.The body was worked from the opening bell.After round 6 he told his trainer that he was behind on the scorecards and would get a few more rounds.In the post-fight interviews, he said, "I want to thank you."He took like a real warrior after a lot of guys turned down the fight.My coach came with a great game plan, and I followed it.Keep my composure.He admitted that he would need to work on his defence.Hunter told Jim Gray that it was hard to stop the fight, but that he was not going to give up.I had to stop it.My son is here at the end of the day.There's nothing more valuable than his well being.I pick him if it comes to him or not.I care about him.After the fight, Spence referred to Thurman as'sometime'.All three judges gave scorecards at the time of the stop.69

BoxingScene.com reported on October 25th that negotiations were progressing for a fight between Spence and Garcia, which is expected to take place in February of 2019.Before he defeated and unified the lightweight division in July,Garcia began to call out Spence for a fight.The purse bid for the potential Richard Commey fight was canceled because of the vacating of his IBF lightweight title.On November 13th, PBC made an announcement about their schedule for 2019.The fight between the two boxers will take place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on March 16, 2019.Fans reacted to the fight being announced.Some fans believed that the size difference would be too much as Spence is considered a big welterweight and some fans welcomed the fight and praised Garcia for 'daring to be great'.[88]
