Errol Spence Jr. is an American professional boxer.He has held two world titles, the IBF and theWBC, in the last two years.He represented the U.S. at the 2012 Olympics after winning three consecutive United States national titles as an amateur.In 2015, he was named a prospect of the year.[4]

As of January 2021, Spence is ranked as the world's fourth best active boxer, pound for pound, by BoxRec, fourth by Boxing Writers Association of America, and fifth by The Ring magazine.He is ranked as the world's best active welterweight by BoxRec, The Ring, and TBRB.There have been four fights rated 5-star by BoxRec.A knockout-to-win ratio of 77.8% is what he has.

In 2009, he won the U.S. National Golden Gloves and went on to win three national amateur titles in the same year.At the World Championships, Spence lost to Sapiyev.[14][15]

After losing in the quarter finals of the 2012 London Olympics, Spence became a professional.[16]

On November 9, 2012 at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California, a 22 year old man named spence made his professional debut against a 19-year old named Jonathan garcia.There was a knockout in the 3rd round.The Sports Arena in Los Angeles, California was part of the undercard for the fight between Amir Khan and Carlos Molina.[17]

In all but one of the fights, Spence won inside the distance.He was defeated in an eight-round bout in October.The judges scored the fight in favor of Spence.He had won all 10 of his professional fights by the end of the year.

The Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas hosted a 10-round fight between Spence and Ronald Cruz.Spence won a unanimous decision.[20]

The MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas was the site of the fight between Spence and Castro.[21]

On April 11, 2015, in a fight for the title of premier boxing champion, he defeated Samuel Vargas by knockout in the 4th round to improve his record to 16-0.On May 16, it was announced that he would be on the undercard of Shawn Porter vs. Adrien Broner on June 20 at the MGM Grand Arena.Phil lo Greco was defeated by Spence in the 3rd round.Roberto Garca was supposed to fight Spence.The fight was canceled three days before the card due to weight issues.Of the 142 punches thrown, 73 of them were landed by Spence and 19 by Lo Greco.[25]

On the undercard of Stevenson-Karpency, Spence fought Chris van Heerden.The referee stopped the fight in round 8 after Spence knocked down van Heerden twice.There are 27 and 28 items.

The Bomb Factory in Dallas will host a boxing match on November 28, 2015, between Alejandro Barrera and Errol Spence.Spence defeated Barrera via 5th-round TKO.This was a eliminator for the number 2 spot in the rankings.He was ahead on all three scorecards.[31][32]

On 10 March 2016 it was announced that the biggest fight of his career would be against Chris Algieri at theBarclays Center in Brooklyn on 16 April.The fight was supposed to last 10 rounds.In front of a pro-Algieri crowd, Spence became the first boxer to stop Algieri.This was Spence's seventh knockout.The end came when Algieri was hit.The hard shot sent Algieri to the floor.Kell brook knows what time it is.We have to fight in the ring.The mandatory challenger must have a final eliminator before he is declared..For the fight, Algieri earned $325,000.The CompuBox punch statistics showed that Algieri landed 34% of his 114 punches.The fight had over one million viewers on NBC.[38]

On 16 May 2016 he denied that his team turned down a fight against brook.According to Spence, the IBF ordered him to fight Ponomarev in order to become the mandatory challenger.Although there were no agreements to fight, on June 9, Ponomarev injured his hand, forcing him out of the eliminator.It was confirmed that Leonard Bundu would fight Errol Spence Jr. in the eliminator on August 21 at the Ford Amphitheater.The fight would be shown on NBC.41 and 42 were the days.

In January of last year, Kell brook and his team were in talks with Amir Khan over a potential fight, as well as keeping the mandatory fight with Spence as second choice.Talks broke down between Khan and Brook after Khan urged them to fight first.Eddie Hearn mentioned that he was in talks with Al Haymon for a fight to take place in the UK in May.The negotiations between himself and Tom Brown were extended by the IBF.The purse bid for the fight was set for February.On February 1, Hearn claimed that he had reached out to the team of Spence's opponent, but that they had not responded.He thought they wanted the fight to go to purse bids.Regardless of the negotiations, he had no problem travelling to the UK for the fight.The purse bid was pushed back 7 days due to a deal close to being reached a day before.On February 13, a deal was reached for the fight to take place in May.The fight will be broadcasted live on Sky Box Office in the UK and the US.55 and 56

On October 3, 2017, Lamont Peterson gave up his title in order to challenge Errol Spence for the IBF title.According to Dan Rafael, Al Haymon promised his client a $3.5 million purse for his next fight.It was reported on October 13 that terms would be finalized in a week.The fight was supposed to take place on 13 January of next year.The event would be aired.The last time he saw action was when he dethroned David Avanesyan.The fight was confirmed on 14 October, with the front-runner to land the fight being theBarclays Center."He's someone I looked up to in the amateurs and I learned a lot from," said Spence at the presser.I had a training camp with him.I really look up to him.He is one of my favorite fighters.He will fight anyone.I've never heard him say no to a fight.I'm looking forward to it.He's got strength.He is a real fighter.He has a big heart and gives it his all.On November 5, it was reported that the fight would take place in Brooklyn.[67]

On the night of the fight, in front of 12,107 fans, Errol Spence broke down and mentally forced Barry Hunter to stop the bout in the 8th round.The man was dropped in round 5 by a left hand.The man survived the round, and beat the count.After taking a lot of punishment, he was able to fire back with some of his own.His eyes were puffy from the hard shots and his face looked swollen.The body was worked from the opening bell.After round 6 he told his trainer that he was behind on the scorecards and would get a few more rounds.In the post-fight interviews, he said, "I want to thank you."He took like a real warrior after a lot of guys turned down the fight.My coach came with a great game plan, and I followed it.Keep my composure.He admitted that he would need to work on his defence.Hunter told Jim Gray that it was hard to stop the fight, but that he was not going to give up.I had to stop it.My son is here at the end of the day.There's nothing more valuable than his well being.I pick him if it comes to him or not.I care about him.After the fight, Spence referred to Thurman as'sometime'.All three judges gave scorecards at the time of the stop.69

According to CompuBox, Spence landed 161 of 526 punches thrown, while Peterson only landed 45 of his 158 thrown.The purse for the fight was $600,000 and the official purse was $1.2 million.The fight averaged 637,000 viewers and peaked at 695,000.72

BoxingScene.com reported on October 25th that negotiations were progressing for a fight between Spence and Garcia, which is expected to take place in February of 2019.Before he defeated and unified the lightweight division in July,Garcia began to call out Spence for a fight.The purse bid for the potential Richard Commey fight was canceled because of the vacating of his IBF lightweight title.On November 13th, PBC made an announcement about their schedule for 2019.The fight between the two boxers will take place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on March 16, 2019.Fans reacted to the fight being announced.Some fans believed that the size difference would be too much as Spence is considered a big welterweight and some fans welcomed the fight and praised Garcia for 'daring to be great'.[88]

On the night, Spence completely outclassed and dominated his opponent, using his superior reach to constantly land jabs to the head and body from a distance, landing108 over the course of the fight.With his weight and height advantage, he was able to completely dominate Garcia even in the pocket, even though he tried to close the distance.In the 8 and 9 rounds, Spence landed over 100 punches with the majority being power shots and uppercuts.A total of 345 punches were landed by the two men.In any of the twelve rounds, he couldn't land double-digit punches.The scorecards read 120-107 and 120-108, twice, to give Spence a perfect 12 round victory.There is a citation needed.
