In 2012 MI6 faces a crisis when a mercenary stole a hard drive containing the identities of every NATO agent in the field and delivered it to Silva.Silva ensured that M was at the center of the crisis by sending her a message advising her to "think on her sins" before bombing her office, and by using her personal computer to decode the drive.He threatened to post five more videos online every week if he didn't get his way.They watched the news which showed agents being executed in an abandoned warehouse, as they discussed what to do with Raoul Silva.

Despite the injuries he sustains on a bungled mission to retrieve the drive from Patrice, and ignoring the poor results of his performance evaluations, M dispatches James Bond to Shanghai after receiving a tip from the CIA.Silva assigned Patrice to kill an art critic.Bond was unsuccessful in learning Silva's identity, but he was able to locate Séverine in a casino in Macau, who acts as the contact for Patrice, after finding a gambling chip in his case.She desperately asked Svérine to kill Silva.

Silva had taken for himself a remote island off the coast of Macau Hashima Island, the former site of a chemical plant, after issuing a false alarm about a major leak.Silva's men restrain Bond in a chair at the end of a long warehouse on the island.Silva enters to confront Bond, revealing his former status as an MI6 operative and gruesomely comparing Bond and himself to two tortured rats as a result of M's deceptive nature.

Silva put a small glass of alcohol on Sévérine's head and forced Bond to shoot her in the head with a single shot from a flintlock pistol.Silva shot her in the chest, killing her and causing the glass to fall from her head, even though Bond tried to spare her by aiming to her side.As Silva contemplates killing Bond, the spy is able to incapacitate all of his men with Silva unable to retaliate having no shots left in his pistol.Before Silva has a chance to escape, a fleet of helicopters that Bond has signaled prior to getting to the island finally arrives, leading to Silva being captured and brought to England.

Silva is in an underground emergency headquarters of MI6 in England, which they retreated to after the explosion in M's office.When M confronted him in his cell, he expressed his hatred for her, as well as his determination to bring about her downfall.He shows her what the suicide pill did to him when she is about to leave.A shocked, disturbed and remorseful M leaves in horror as Silva grins with a gaping jaw and laughs at himself after he put the artificial limb back into his face.Q acquires Silva's computer and uses the password "Granborough" to create an electronic map of underground London.Q inadvertently allows Silva to hack MI6's systems using a virus, releasing him from his cell and allowing him to escape into the subway through a floor grate.

Realizing that Silva has been one step ahead of them the whole time, his capture by MI6 and subsequent escape having been planned years in advance, Bond deduces that he plans to travel along the subway and emerge at the scene.Silva has his men deliver the uniform of a police officer to Bond while he is on the tube.Silva was able to evade Bond at the end of the chase by using his police radio to blow up an underground bomb that would cause a train to derail.He made his way to the inquiry with a small group of officers from the Metropolitan Police who were dressed as police officers and shot at M but missed.He doesn't hit M as he panics when Bond shows up, but he does hit Eve Moneypenny as she and Bond return fire.After they shoot down the rest of Silva's men, Bond creates a smokescreen and allows M to escape.

After Silva flees the scene, Bond takes M and leaves London in his Aston Martin, knowing that Silva and his men will come back in full force after his long-planned strategy failed him.Bond assigns Q to leave a complex electronic trail that only Silva will be able to follow, so he takes M to the Skyfall Lodge, his remote childhood home in Scotland, to lead Silva into a trap.Kincade, Bond and M rig the house with a range of booby traps and explosives, and finish just as a wave of armed henchmen (possible SPECTRE soldiers) begins to approach from a hilltop.M was shot in the hip by one of Bond and Kincade's henchman, who was killed by Bond.

Kincade was told by Bond to evacuate M to the nearby chapel via a tunnel because Silva was not among the attackers.A second wave of men, including Silva, arrive in a helicopter.The helicopter flies around the house shooting through the barricaded windows before landing outside of the manor.Silva steps out of the helicopter and throws a grenade into the mansion as he makes his way to the manor house.After throwing grenades through windows and taunting Bond, he circles the manor house and waves his arm in the direction of the Aston Martin.It blows up after the helicopter shoots it.

After escaping through the tunnel, Bond found a pair of gas tanks and a stick of dynamite, which he timed to explode.Silva and his cronies circle the house before it explodes, which causes the helicopter to crash, and causes Silva to look on in horror, as the majority of the attackers are killed and incinerated.The audience thinks that Silva has been blown up.

Silva gets up and looks at the damage he has done.Looking across the moors, a crazed and determined Silva spots Kincade's flashlight and stumbles after them.Bond incapacitating one of Silva's two remaining henchmen by fly- kicking him resulted in his neck being snapped.Silva was able to reach the chapel while Kincade was out of sight because he fell through the ice on the lake.He holds a gun to her head despite his hatred for her.He forced the gun into her hand and demanded that she kill him and herself with a single bullet through their heads when he tried to execute her.Silva's mind seems to have shattered even more.

Bond declared himself the "last rat standing" after throwing his father's combat knife into Silva.Silva collapses, dead, but his plan succeeds, as M collapses in Bond's arms and dies from her wound.

Silva is frequently mentioned.During the film's opening credits sequence, there is a character in shattered glass with the former M and Le Chiffre.The film establishes a connection between Silva and SPECTRE.As Q analyses MarcoSciarra's SPECTRE ring, the technology links the object to Silva along with several other antagonists from previous films.He is mentioned by SPECTRE leader as one of his connections.In the film's climax, 007 is kidnapped and taken to the soon-to-be demolished SIS Building.One of the cardboard cut-outs in the shooting range has a print-out of his face on it.He caused a lot of damage to the building.

Even after his men were killed by Bond, and later held at gunpoint by the latter, Silva remained completely reserved and even managed to mock him, despite his chaotic methods.He seemed to have an appreciation for classical music.During his attack on Skyfall Lodge, he used his helicopter to play a lot of rock music for the purpose of intimidation and being a nuisance.Bond said he had to make an entrance.He was charismatic and very strategic, thinking of all of his plans in full detail and trying not to leave anything to chance.Silva was so smart that he even went so far as to use Q and Bond as part of his plan.Silva was described as a brilliant agent by M.He allowed himself to be captured in order to exact revenge on M.He proved himself to be a master at puppeteering despite being funded by Blofeld.He was not a puppet despite being a pawn.Silva kissed Sévérine and made strong overtures toward Bond, though what exactly he meant by it and whether he is actually bisexual is left up for debate.

Silva had a strong dislike for M, but he is also conflicted about her.He thought he had survived to see her eyes one last time.During their confrontation in the MI6 cell room where he is held after his initial capture, he grew more agitated and deranged as she refused to show any remorse or regret for her actions, especially when she refuses to use his real name.He blames M personally for forcing him towards a path that could easily kill him, ignoring his own willingness to do so.When he has her at the point of a gun, and can't bring himself to shoot her, he cannot kill her.He has a sarcastic wit that he uses against James Bond, even using Bond's own words against him.He is an overly dramatic, flighty, flamboyant, peculiarly quirky, and colourful man.
