The upper jaw and teeth protrude over the lower jaw in class 2, which is why the forsus is used.It is only used in extreme cases where the orthodontist thinks that normal orthodontist elastics may not be able to correct the problem. The use of regular orthodontist elastics can be eliminated. The forsus can help patients who don't remember to wear a headgear or elastics, and may prevent them from having jaw surgery. The appliance is used to align the teeth and reduce the overbite in patients. The time when the jaw is growing the most is when it is used in adolescents.Depending on the severity of the case, the appliance needs to stay in the patient's mouth for 6 to 9 months.
There are many advantages to using a Forsus appliance.Forsus appliances can correct the bite problem quicker than rubber bands, and are more comfortable to wear than bulky headgear. The Forsus appliance works all the time so patients don't need to remember to wear their headgear or rubber bands. The appliance can help to prevent jaw surgery in the future.
