Free Certified Education Units (CEUs) for Coders are available in the AAPC Knowledge Center.

You have the responsibility of maintaining a level of professionalism after passing yourcredential exam.How well you fulfill your commitment is measured by continuing education units.The Certified Professional Coder (CPC®) requires 36 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) every two years.You can pull it off with a small investment of time.Here is how.

There are many opportunities to earn CEUs.It is easy and affordable to earn 36 CEUs every two years.For example:

You can earn 1 CEU per quiz if you complete the online Test Yourself quizzes.The AAPC Content app can be used to take these.The Quizzes end on the first of the month after the cover date.The quiz for Sept. 1, 2020, will no longer be available after August 31, 2021.

You can earn 1 CEU per hour of education by attending your local chapter meetings.Chapter may charge a nominal fee to cover expenses for meals, special speakers, room rental, etc.

It is free for you to read your member magazine and attend your local chapter meetings.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has a learning management system that gives you free access to web-based training courses.The calls and broadcasts from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services are approved for AAPC CEUs.

Core educational content should be used to show competencies relating to the earned credential.There is education on coding, billing, auditing, clinical content, compliance, regulatory issues, claims, etc.

Professional self-improvement education is classified as Curriculum B.Only a third of the total earned CEUs can be from Curriculum B.Communication, leadership, time management, and dealing with stress are topics.

Pre-approved CEUs ensure the highest caliber of educational quality.Under the "Approved Content" tab, AAPC members can learn more about submitting Curriculum B programs for approval.

The standard application for in-service training can be found on the CEU Vendor Information page.The free applications for in-service CEU approval are available to everyone in attendance.

When you complete an educational event, enter the index number into your CEU tracker on our website or in the My AAPC app.You can store your certificates for at least six months after you submit them.Your filing cabinets are a lot cleaner with the latter option.
