Girl Hair Bows are made.

Store bought hair bows can be very expensive, especially for things like little girls' hair accessories. Why don't you make your own hair bows and save some money?Ribbon, glue, and a needle and thread are all you need to make something.Go to Step 1 to start.

Step 1: Pick out your supplies.

All you need to make a hair bow is a length of ribbon, a threaded needle, and a hot glue gun.You don't need to worry about the length of the ribbon if you're just making the hair bow for fun.If you need a hair bow of a specific size, you should double the length of the ribbon, plus one inch.If you want a two-inch hair bow, you would measure out four inches, plus an extra inch.

Step 2: There is a loop.

The two ends of the ribbon need to overlap by half an inch to make a circular loop.If the ribbon is patterned, make sure the right side is facing out.

Step 3: Put a needle in the center.

To flatten the loop, press down on the center of the ribbon.Run your needle through the center of the folded ribbon from the back to the front.

Step 4: Wrap the thread around.

The accordion style folds the center of the bow.Wrap the thread around the center several times.Cut the rest after knotting the thread.

Step 5: You can add a center knot.

A basic knot is tied with a second piece of ribbon.Attach the ends of the ribbon at the back with hot glue or a small stitch by positioning the knot over the bow.

Step 6: Attach the barrette with the bow.

Attach the bow with hot glue on top of the barrette. Before using, leave to dry for an hour.

Step 7: The finishing touches should be done.

If you want to add more flair to the bow, you can use fabric glitter or hot glue some sequins on.A contrasting colored ribbon can be used to make a second bow.Place one bow on top of the other, then add the center knot to attach it to the barrette.

Step 8: Pick up your supplies.

One piece of ribbon will be used to form your "main bow" so it should be wider than the other two.You will need a gun glue, a threaded needle with a knot tied at the end, some scissors, and a bottle of check.

Step 9: There are loops to be made.

When you're tying a shoelace, make a loop in the center of your widest piece of ribbon. The size of the bow will be determined by the first loop, so adjust it until you find a size you like.Make sure the patterned side is facing out if you are using patterned ribbon.Holding the first loop securely with your thumb and forefinger, make a second loop on the opposite side. You should be able to see the shape of the bow.The same technique can be used to make a third and fourth loop. The second tail of the bow should be formed by the fourth loop coming down from the left to right.Take a second to make sure the loops are the same size.

Step 10: It's secure with thread.

Holding the four loops securely at the center point with your thumb and forefinger, grab the threaded needle in your other hand and run from back to front.Make a number of stitches through the center of the bow. When the bow is finished, you won't be able to see the stitches as they are messy.Cut the thread with your scissors after tying a knot at the back of the bow.Cut off the bow tails if they are still attached to the ribbon. For now, keep the bow's tails nice and long, you can shorten them later.

Step 11: A second and third bow.

The same method can be used to make two more bows.Try to make these bows smaller than the last one, as you will be placing them on top of each other.

Step 12: The bows should be put together.

Make sure the centers of the bows are aligned by taking your larger bow and sitting two smaller bows on top.Take your threaded needle and run it through the center of the bows.Attach the bows with stitches.Wrap the thread around the bow several times after several stitches.Pull it tight so that it doesn't fall in the center of the bow.To make sure the loops and tails of the bow are in the correct position, you may need to adjust them a little. After you've wrapped the thread around the bow several times, tie a knot in the back and cut it.

Step 13: Attach the barrette to the knot.

Take a piece of ribbon and tie a knot.Make sure the patterned side is facing out by reading the ribbon.Align the knot over the center of the bow to cover the stitches you made earlier.Put a dot of glue on the back of the bow by flipping it around and using your glue gun.Press the top half of the barrette into the glue.Take one end of the ribbon and pass it through the barrette.Attach it to the glue beneath by pressing it down.Don't cut off any more.Attach the piece of ribbon you just passed through the barrette with glue, then take the other end of the ribbon and stick it in place.Don't cut off any more. The barrette has a bow attached to it.

Step 14: The tails of the bow have to be trimmed.

Make sure the bow is facing the right way around.Take your scissors and trim the bow.The easiest way to trim them is from the outside in.The length of the tails is a matter of personal preference. The final step is to take a bottle of check and run a small amount along the cut edge of each tail. The ends will not become frayed.
