It is convenient for weddings, proms, or other special occasions to have hair extensions that are long and full.Extensions need to be taken out eventually.You want to be careful with your extensions so you don't damage your hair.
Step 1: Pick up all of your hair and put it into a ponytail.
Take all of your natural hair and any extensions and place them in one or two hair ties or big hair clips on your head.If you can, put your extensions and natural hair in separate clips.
Step 2: Take out a section of your hair.
You want to pull out separate rows of hair at a time because it will be too difficult to rip out all of your extensions at once.There is a small section at the base of your head.An even section of hair can be pulled out with a rat tail comb.You can keep track of where you have already removed extensions by starting at the bottom of your head.
Step 3: You can find the end of the thread with your fingers.
Pull your extensions against your head with a thread.Run your fingers along the ridge of the braid or seam where the extension was sewn to find the end.If you want to cut the thread from your hair, use needle nose scissors or manicure scissors.You can use a mirror to find the end of the thread, or ask a friend to help you find it.If your natural hair has grown out around the seam, you may be able to keep it.Use the end of your scissors to cut the thread.This will keep you from cutting too much hair.It shouldn't be hard to distinguish between your hair and the thread.
Step 4: Remove the thread from your head.
Pull the extension away from your head with both hands.One hand should hold your hair roots to your head in order to protect it.Pull the extension thread in the opposite direction when grasping it with your other hand.To loosen the seam, wiggle your fingernails or a thin object like a nail file between the braid.If there are tangles of hair around the extension seam, you may need to cut another section of the thread.
Step 5: Special hair products can be used to remove the threads.
Some extensions can be coated with a salon product that will break down the threads without damaging your hair.Let the solution sit for a few minutes after spraying a section of weave or extension thread.When you are done, use a wide toothed comb to remove any debris from your hair.
Step 6: Continue to find and remove threads.
Pull out a small ponytail to work on individual sections of your hair.You should go slowly so that you don't miss any extensions that are hidden in your natural hair.It is better to be patient than to find a chunk of hair hanging by a thread.Set extension pieces aside if they are not damaged or ragged.They may be able to do it again.
Step 7: Take out your hair.
Once you have untangled the thread, look for any cornrows or braids that were used to secure your extensions.Use a wide toothed comb to comb from the top to the bottom of your hair to make sure that you have removed all artificial hair.If you have tangles or pieces that are difficult to remove, spray hair detangling solution on them.
Step 8: CONDITION your hair after you wash it.
After using artificial products, your hair needs some time to heal.You can wash your hair with a clarifying cleanser and then use a deep conditioner.Wait at least two weeks before putting more extensions in your hair.As you wash your hair, be on the lookout for any extension remnants that may have slipped through your notice.
Step 9: Attach a large hair band to your hair.
As you search for each bond, a ponytail will help keep you organized.Some bonds are obvious and some are more difficult to find so you want to work on a small piece of your hair at a time to avoid missing anything.
Step 10: You need to untie a section of your hair.
Pull out a row of hair at the bottom of your head with a salon comb or index finger.Pull out a little more hair from your ponytail so you can work on the larger section.Don't remove hair extensions at the same time.If you work slowly and diligently, you will be able to remove hair extensions safely.
Step 11: The bonds should be loosened and broken with pliers.
Needle nose pliers are used to squeeze the bond.When enough force is applied, it will be easier to release your natural hair from the bond.After the first crack, squeeze a different section of the bond to weaken it.To loosen the bond on your hair, crush it as many times as you can.If you have stubborn bonds, be careful not to pull hair out of your head.After removing all of your extensions, some of the cracked bond may still be in your hand, so use a fine toothed comb to remove any debris.It's not possible to simply brush your hair.It will damage your hair and roots.
Step 12: The bonds have oil on them.
Rub any combination of olive, coconut, baby, or almond oil into the cracks of the bonds you created with the pliers.Allow the oil to sit for a while.You can pull or comb the extensions with the help of the oil.Instead of using a household oil, use a salon or beauty supply store's keratin bond remover.A small amount of alcohol-based gel on the bond can help.Use a small amount of alcohol so that you don't damage your hair.
Step 13: Use a hair dryer to heat bonds.
If you want to speed up the process of applying oil to bonds, blow dry your hair.It is helpful to have heat for anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes.
Step 14: Pull your hair out of the bond.
You want to keep your natural hair out of the way as you pull on the bonds.Hold the base of your roots with one hand and lightly pull the bond with the other.If you feel a pull on your hair, try cracking the bonds and applying more oil.
Step 15: Use a wide toothed comb to comb your hair.
Pick out leftover bonds or extension leftovers with a combination or combs.Since combs have stiff teeth, they work better than brushes, but metal brushes can also work.
Step 16: You can wash and treat your hair.
If you want to help restore your hair, roots, and scalp, take a shower and use a clarifying shampoo and deep conditioner.Clarifying shampoos will help remove excess olive oil as well as remaining glue from the weave while the conditioner replenishes any vitamins or minerals stripped away by a harsh alcohol or chemical.
Step 17: You need to separate your hair into sections.
Pull your hair together except for one section with a hair clip or tie.There is a section of hair at the bottom of your head.You want to start at the bottom and work your way up so you know where you have already removed extensions.
Step 18: For 15 minutes, put oil on a piece of glue or tape.
Any chemical bonds from glue or tape can be broken by oil.Almond, coconut, baby, and olive oil are some of the oils that can be used to remove extensions.Wait for the bond to break down and rub the oil into it.The bonds need time to break down.Wait at least 15 minutes for thick tape or glue bonds.Make sure you have enough time to remove your extensions.If you don't have time to finish removing half a head of fake hair, you will be caught off guard.
Step 19: If you want to break down remaining glue, Wrap your hair in a towel and conditioner.
After washing your hair, coat your entire head in a conditioner.Attach the conditioner to your roots with tape or glue.Wait 20 minutes and wrap your head in a towel.Use a wide toothed comb to comb out your extensions after unwrapping.If using oil did not completely remove your extensions, this can help.The combing out of fake hair is more difficult and painful if you comb from the tips of your hair.
Step 20: Get all the glue out by repeating.
If you want to remove all of the glue from each section, you have to apply oil or wrap your hair in a towel.Before letting down another section of your hair, you should work through each section completely.After washing your hair, use a clarifying cleanser and conditioner.Even after repeated treatments, you may still have some glue in your hair.The way out will take a few days.
Step 21: Take one clip at a time.
Pull the clip away from your hair.Hold your natural hair against your head.If the teeth are sharp, be careful not to let the clip snap on your fingers.If you have more than one clip in, you should work in sections around your head.Reapplying clip-in extensions should be done in different places on your head.This will allow your hair to relax.
Step 22: Before going to sleep or showering, take out temporary extensions.
It's a good idea to remove clip-in extensions before you go to bed.If your extensions can't be washed with regular hair products, be sure to take them out before showering.Hang your extensions up if you want them to stay straight.Remove your fake hair and then comb it to keep it out of storage.
Step 23: It's a good idea to mist hair with water.
There are chunks of matted hair that have worked their way around clip-in extensions.To get the clips out, use a wide toothed comb, a spray bottle of water or a hair detangling product.If your extensions can't get wet, do not make them wet.
