Honda Accord Oil Change 2004 2.4L (I4) ( 2003-2007 Similar) changing the oil and filter

The mechanic put oil in the car.The handbook says it should be 5W-20.What oil should be used in Iowa?Should the mechanic use Honda products when it comes to the Automatic Transmission? The Honda conditioner is usually put in by mechanics.Honda is good enough for where I live.

Since you have a honda, I would recommend 5w-30 synthetic oil, it helps prolong the engines life, and they usually service your car with honda certified products, especially the transmission.

I believe Honda's have a special Additive that is supposed to be in the ATF.Some shops have a bottle of conversion that is supposed to make ATF+3 compatible with it.I don't know what the details are.I did what I was told without thinking about it, because the boss told me that car x got Additive.I can't remember if it was Hondas or another maker, but there are a couple of people here who are Honda technicians, hopefully they can either say I'm wrong or give rhyme to the reason. The oil should be kept with the manufacturer until the rings have worn, to where it starts to burn oil, before you start jumping up weights.Do it at 50k, 75k or never go against the recommendation. If you keep up with the changes, it should never become an issue. If you want to know what weight oil to use at different temperatures, you can look at a chart in your manual. If you have a manual, you should have all the information you need.Tell you what types of lubricant are needed.

The only car that will hurt a thing is 10 w 30 and it's own brand of atf is chrystler.

Nope. The dealer atf and power steering fluid can be used on Hondas.Honda uses a different mix of fluids.

Since your cars newer stick with whatever is in the handbook, the specific details of what your car is supposed to be running with, to keep it running up to par.

I wouldn't use the 10W30 oil.The car uses 5W20.Adding and changing coolant is something to be careful with. You need to use the extended life if you have a 100,000 mile coolant that is red or clean. The green coolant is made of aluminum.Dave.

I am in service at a Honda dealership. The oil is not a big deal but I would stick with the 5W-20.

I'm inclined to go with the person I like the most. The 2002 SW 6cyl has done over 67,000 miles. In New Zealand, every mechanic bought the Honda certified oils, coolants and water conditioner for their cars.American dealers in Iowa don't seem interested in following the manufacturers recommendations.I noticed the difference in oil and it worried me that I wasn't following directions.I want to keep this car the same as my others, and they just kept going for a long time without any problems.

Honda and Acura are legendary for their ability to accumulate high mileage over the vehicle's lifetime because of the tight tolerances of their engines. It's important to have adequate lubrication. If you have a Honda or Acura, use 5w20 motor oil.Your hot-rodder buddy doesn't matter if he says 5w20 is too thin.He is not a Honda Engineer. If you choose to use 5w30, 10w40, or 20w50 racing oil in a Honda or Acura, you will starve the internal engine parts of adequate lubrication.

If your car's manual says to use synthetic old, then use 5w20 synthetic oil.Especially if you have a honda. It will save you thousands of dollars if you replace an engine that is broken down. What is the more logical choice?

The 2002 Accord V6, auto trans, is only changed every 10k miles.Trans was drained and reloaded with 3 1/2 quarts.I do not go through the D&R sequence.

I have a 2004 honda accord right hand drive and I am about to do a service on it. The 5w20 oil is the best to use.

In Sept 2000 Honda put out a Technical Service Bulletin for the 1999 Accord. The oil in my daughter's 99 needs a new Solenoid after a chain changed it.To pay for the replacement costs, I'm going after the chain. They say they used 5W- 30 but it's not correct as Honda RevISED the oil in the Technical Service Bulletin. You would think they knew what they were doing.I get talked to as if I'm the dumb one.Really?!

HONDA ACCORD SPORT.There is a certification seal on the container.

There is a Honda Accord Sport 4 CYLINDER.There is a certification seal on the container.

I understand that a new car is supposed to use a 0W-20 but I don't think you should use the same viscosity oil.It would be great to hear from a certified mechanic about this topic.

I was told by my mechanic to use 10W-40 instead of the recommended 5W-30 for the Honda Accord 2000.Is it okay to use 10W-40 on it?What oil do I need to use??

The reason for using 5w-20 is so that the variable valve timing VTECH system will work correctly, because I am a Honda engineer. It has nothing to do with mileage.Noslen Enaz.

Always use what the car has.recemends.The use of other fluids will cause premature failure. If a service facility is trying to sell you something other than what it is.Go somewhere else if states are to be used.I have had no problems with my own changes and they all run great.2002 Accord 260,000, 2007 Avalon 190,000, 1997 chevy S10 217,000.Change your oil on time. You can put a can of Lucas fuel treatment into your gas tank once a month. It is safe for your vehicles and does a great job. Will save a lot of money later on.

If you run 10-30 or 10:40 you're on the interstate a lot and you have to downshift to gain speed to go around cars or you can run it up to 6000rpm before you let it go.

I'm going with the Honda engineer because the manufacturer won't steer you in the wrong way.

If you drive in Arizona, 0W20 is bad for Honda engines.Go for 5w20 instead. Some Honda models have issues. This problem will be fixed with Full synthetic.Don't have the Honda dealers change the oil in your car. They use regular engine oil.

I use a quart of synthetic oil between oil changes and my car is burning off some but not out the tailpipe.I have a Honda with a four cylinder V-TECH.Can I use this oil in my car?

2.5w20 full synthetic can be used in the winter time.Bring your full synthetic oil with you if you replace the engine oil at home.Honda i4 engines don't like thicker fluids.Any thicker than 5w20 will make a kickback on your vehicle, or your i4 Honda acceleration is slower. The Honda ATF DW-1 is the replacement for the transmission.

I've been a tech for 30 years.Always follow the manufacture spec and an engineer who puts a lot of time and effort into oil, cooling and lubricating qualities. The school kid at the quick oil change place knows more than you do.Rob is a tech at Mercedes Benz K.W.

Always use deterrents. If your mechanic says you need thicker oil because it's up in mileage, you've probably got some damage already.thicker oil will stress out other components a lot faster than normal

The mechanic put oil in the car.The handbook says it should be 5W-20.What oil should be used in Iowa? When it comes to the Automatic Transmissio...

The owners manual says to put 5 quarts of 5w20 motor oil in the car. I just got an oil change at just tires. The engine has 171,500 miles on it.

I own a 2004 Honda Accord.I should replace engine oil every 6000 miles or every 6 months according to the owner's manual. Most of the people around me agree.
