How do I get employers to call me back after applying for a position?
I usually call about 2 weeks after you submit your application.Call and say that you submitted an application for the position last week.I was checking to make sure you received it and that the position was still open.
It doesn't hurt to call.Before you called, they thought that you weren't a good fit.If they got a lot of applications, it will make you stand out and make them take a closer look at your application.When a person calls and says they could be a great candidate, you just overlook them the first time.
If you apply for a job and leave it with someone other than the manager, I would call that person directly and tell them you are making sure they got your application.If you leave it with the person doing the hiring and have spoken to them, I would try to get their email address or voice mail and just leave, it was nice to meet you.
Call them, maybe send a hand written note card thanking them for their time along with your name and contact info inside, or even through in a small starbucks gift cert, and suggest you have coffee sometime.It's okay to think outside the box and do something to stand out from the crowd.
