Why is my Safari not responding?
If Safari is so unresponsive that it can't be quit from the File menu, using Force Quit is a reasonable solution instead: Hit Command+Option+Escape to bring up the Force Quit menu. Wait a minute or so as Safari is forced to exit and the system recovers, then relaunch Safari and go back to browsing as usual.
What do you do when Safari doesn't work?
- Reload the page.
- Install software updates.
- Turn off Safari extensions.
- Test with a private window.
- Check network settings.
- Resolve other issues.
What would cause Safari to stop working?
There are a few reasons why Safari might be crashing: There might be something going on in the background of the website you are visiting (or one you have opening another tab). You might be running an older version of the software with an issue that has since been fixed.
