How do you reset a Flammable Vapor Sensor on a Water Heater?

There is a flammable vapor sensor on the bottom of the water heater unit.The sensor is designed to shut off the water heating system if there is a fire.Check the area immediately for leaking gas or other dangerous products if your water heater shut down because of your flammable vapor sensor.bleach can trip the safety system as well as unsuccessful burner ignition attempts.

Refer to your particular model's operation guide for the exact location of the blower switch to turn it off.The control pad has a Molex connection attached to it.

Set your multi-meter to read resistance or "ohms"The multi-meter probes should be connected to the number two pin and number three pin of the Molex connector.If the reading on your multi-meter reads below 9k or above 45k ohms, the flammable vapor sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced; you cannot reset the system until this issue is resolved.

If you want to turn the blower switch to "ON", you need to connect the molex to the control pad.The control pad has both the left and right buttons on it.Wait for the green light on the control pad to blink and then press the buttons in sequence, you will need to do this in 30 seconds if you want to be successful.

It's a good idea to check your hot water heater for dangerous products and a natural gas leak.If there are any flammable products in the water heater's area, they should be removed.
